A New Avenger

The unexpected meeting

As Thor held my hand he said "Come Lady Esme, don't be upset, let us have dinner together." I looked up at him and smiled, "Okay, where?" He gave a laugh and said "right in here. You mean to tell me that you didn't think I stole food and hid it away in my room?" I looked at him and said "Yeah I guess you have a point. Anyway what do you have?" He turned around and pulled a sheet off a mini fridge. How did he get that? He opened it and said "Well I have a bunch if stuff-" the P.A cut him off. "All agents enrolled in The New Avengers program please report to the meeting room ASAP." Thor closed the mini fridge and looked at me "There was no scheduled meeting today, that means trouble."

I immediately thought of Cat. I looked at Thor and without thinking I said "I'm scared." Why did I just say that! I don't want Thor to know that! He just looked at me and said "Give me your hand Lady Esme, we'll walk together." I took his hand and we began to walk out the door.

As we made our way to the meeting room agents were scurrying everywhere, and I was tense. Thor looked at me then our hands and said "Lady Esme, can you please loosen your grip?" I looked at our hands interlocked, you could see my arm bulging at my grip. "Oh sorry." Is all I managed to get out as I loosened my hand. We finally were at the meeting room door.

Thor turned the handle and still holding my hand went in first, since only one of him fit through the door. I walked right behind him. We sat in our regular seats. I looked around and saw Mackenzie holding Steve's hand. Danielle with a worried face holding Clint's hand, and Emilie holding Tonys hand. I guess they all found their happiness like I did. I also saw Natasha and Bruce both with a worried expression. Where's Cat? I held Thor's hand in my lap, he looked at me, and with his free hand pointed to our hands as he whispered "A little tight." I looked down loosened my hand and whispered back "Oh sorry." He gave a quick smile then went back to a serious look. I hope Cat is just running late. Fury walked in and sat in his usual chair. He looked at us then began "Where's Cat?" We all looked at each other. Thor spoke first "I was about to ask you the same question." Fury gave a Confused look than said "I just saw her a minute ago, on her way here. Esme, can you go find her for me?' I looked at him confused and asked, " you mean to tell me this meeting isn't about cat?" Fury looked at me and said " no, I told you Esme I'm handling it. Now can you go find her." I released Thor's hand, got up and headed out the door. I walked down the main hallway until I made it to my room. I opened the door and saw what I expected, Cat, with her head in her hands, crying.
