Brooke's POV:
"Anything new?" Sarah ask as we sit and talk since the restaurant seems to be lacking business.
"Nothing really." I lie. I probably should tell her. I could use her opinion about the date.
"Actually um Grayson asked me on a date." I say scratching the back of my neck. A big smile spreads across her face.
"You're gonna go right?" She ask chuckling. "I don't know." I shrug. "You have to. He totally likes you. This is a good thing." She says nudging my shoulder causing my cheeks to heat up.
"I'm not saying it's not a good thing it's just I'm a little scared to get serious with someone again." I say looking down at my hands.
"Rough relationship I'm guessing." She says tapping the bar we were sat at. "Yeah we dated for 2 years." I say picking at my chipped nails.
"What happened?" She ask now curious. "I Uh caught him cheating." I mutter looking back up at her and setting my hands in my lap.
"Not every guy's like that Brooke. And if you do go on this date with Grayson you don't have to get serious until you want to." She says trying to convince me this dates a good idea. I just nod as someone walks into the restaurant for the first time in hours.
"Thanks Sar." I mutter as I go to take the older man's order.
***********
At homeI'm sitting on my back patio replaying Sarah and I's conversation. Maybe she's right. I could just dip my feet in a little.
"Hey loser." I hear from a little ways away. I turn to see Grayson on his back patio. I smile softly at him even though I'm troubled.
"Hey." I mutter back. He takes this as an invitation to come over and sit with me. I don't really mind because I could use the presence of someone else right now.
"What's wrong?" He ask seeing that I'm tense. "I don't know. I've just been thinking a lot about your offer." I Admit looking down at the ground.
He lets out a low sigh and I know he's disappointed. "If you don't want to go it's fine." He rambles.
"No no no it's just I'm unsure of the whole situation." I say opening up way more than I probably should. "Why's that?" He ask carefully, not wanting to push me too hard.
"I guess I'm scared." I shrug. "Of me?" He ask scrunching up his face. I chuckle a bit at his reaction.
"No. Of falling for you." I admit and I immediately regret it because he falls silent. "Love tends to bite me in the ass." I add trying to run right over what I just said.
"Listen, I don't know what happened in the past but whoever did it was an idiot." He says raising an eyebrow causing me to chuckle. "But Can I ask what happened?" I knew that was coming. Of course he would ask. He's just curious.
"Oh um I was dating this guy for 2 years and I was head over heels for him." He nods letting me know he's listening. "Like have you ever looked at someone and just saw your whole future play out in front of you and think that they're gonna be the one to guid you through it?" He shakes his head no.
"Well anyway. That's what I felt when I looked at him. I thought for sure we were meant to be and then one day I found him cheating. I couldn't believe it because I thought he loved me like I loved him." I ramble. God, I can't believe I'm admitting all of this to him right now.
Grayson's face softens. I want to cry but I won't. I've moved on from that.
Grayson's POV:
Her story breaks my heart. I grab her chin and cause her to look up at me. "I wouldn't hurt you like that." Is all I manage to say but I want to say so much more.
"I-I would treat you like you deserve to be treated." I stammer and she smiles a little but she doesn't say anything.
"You just have to give me a chance." I say barely above a whisper. She nods and I think I've finally convinced her to go on that date.
She stands up and I stand up with her. I just want to make sure she's okay.
"How about tomorrow at 8." She smiles softly.
I can't help the huge grin that spreads across my face.
"Perfect." I mutter. Her cheeks heat up a little.
"Goodnight Grayson." She says planting a gentle kiss on my cheek and turning to go back inside. "Goodnight Brooke." I say with the grin still plastered on my face.
Brooke's POV:
I still can't believe I told Grayson everything and then turned around and said yes to the date.
Although it was weird for me to think about admitting everything to him, it felt great. He listened and he made me feel better which is something my last boyfriend never did.
I hope Grayson doesn't make me regret this. I don't want him to make me regret falling for him.

AN:
I loved this chapter :)And I didn't use a name for the old boyfriend because he's irrelevant and a dickhole.
Feedback would be much appreciated :)
