It was dark by the time we got to London. We were back in our previous flat, and I pulled on a jumper, suddenly freezing. I missed the L.A. weather, but was glad to be working again. For the next week we will be practicing everyday. It was a good distraction.
Not feeling very jetlagged, I put a film on in my room. I wasn't planning on being in the living room if I could hear Ashton and Georgia having sex. I was in denial. I knew it was happening but refused to believe it.
An hour after we got back, I was tucked into my duvet when a knock came from my door. Luke and Michael stuck their heads in.
"You're not asleep either?" They grinned as they jumped into bed with me. They tucked themselves under the covers and snuggled closer so they could watch the movie with me.
It was nice. We really were bros. This is how it should be, no girl or guy drama. No tension. Just being best mates on tour together. I opened my mouth to ask where Ashton and Georgia were, but then I realised that I didn't want to know. I didn't not care, but I needed to get over it.
It had been ages since we last slept in the same bed together, but I didn't need a girl as a cuddle buddy. I had my boys.
Gemma POV
Waking up in an empty bed, I looked around me. It was daylight, so I went outside to explore where everyone was. Ashton was alone in the kitchen, making pancakes.
"Hey." I wrapped my arms around his waist, smirking. Ashton chuckled before kissing my forehead.
"Hey, gorgeous. Had good dreams?"
I nodded. "Is nobody else awake?"
Ashton shook his head. "Look in Calum's room."
I hestiated, before walking over to his door, where inside I saw three band members in a double bed, completely knocked out. I grinned at Ashton.
"That's really cute." I grabbed my phone to take a picture of it.
"We used to do that all the time." Ashton mumbled, not really showing any emotion on his face. "Guess I got distracted." He winked at me. I rolled my eyes, heading over to him and ran my fingers down his chest. I went onto my tiptoes to kiss him. Somehow this led to me being on the counter top with Ashton between my legs as we found ourselves in a makeout session.
"Everytime!" Michael yelled, causing me to jump away in shock. Michael was walking past to go to the bathroom, and Luke and Calum had left the bedroom too. I looked over to Calum, who pretended like I didn't exist. It kind of hurt, but I pushed that thought away.
Ashton chuckled at me. "I'm really falling for you, you know."
I sent him a weak smile and forced a laugh. "I...I think your pancakes have gone cold."
Ashton nodded, stepping back so he could work on making more pancakes. I looked over to Luke and Calum, who were in conversation which I didn't want to butt into, so I headed back to Ashton's bedroom.
How can I love Ashton when I didn't know what love was?
"Can I take the day off, today?" I called Henry. I was so done with recent events I just needed to get out of the flat and explore. Alone.
"You haven't taken a day off in weeks, I think you deserve a few hours off." Henry chuckled, and I smirked, turning off the phone and jumping into the running shower. When I got out, Ashton looked at me expectantly from the sofa with the rest of his band.
"We have to leave in an hour, will you be ready to go?"
"I actually have other plans." I mumbled, causing the whole band to look up in surprise. "What? Can't I spend a day without you guys?"
"I guess so..." Ashton looked away, and Michael gave me a questioning look. I shook my head at him as I went into Ashton's room to change. Once I was ready, it was still half an hour before the boys were supposed to leave, so I grabbed my bag and a spare set of keys. I headed into the living room and looked the boys over.
"I'll be back in a few hours."
"What are you going to do?" Calum asked curiously. I felt my heart stammer. It was the first time in days that he's acknowledged me.
"Um...sightseeing."
"You live in London." Michael accused, and I shrugged.
"One can sightsee, right? I do have other friends beside you guys, whom I haven't seen in weeks due to you too."
"But you don't..." Calum gave me a confused expression, before he nodded. "Okay, have fun."
I turned around and headed to the door. As I passed security I put my hood up, avoiding them quickly.
I didn't really have anywhere to go, I just sat down in a coffee shop and brought a hot chocolate, taking in the sights. I loved to people watch. You could be in your own little world until you paid attention to strangers, who had their own dramas and life stories which you wouldn't know about.
My heart stood still when I saw someone across the road.
Someone I recognised.
Dan Biggs was walking across the road, a smirk on his face as he spoke into a phone. Instantly my phone was to my ear.
"Gemma? Is everything okay?"
I spoke in a hushed voice, as if Biggs could see me from so far away. "Dan Biggs. He's out."
"How did you know? We didn't want to worry you about his escape."
"Well I'm shitting myself because I can see him. Fuck." I put my hood up as I noticed him cross the road, closer to me. "What do I do?"
"We're locating your position right now. We'll be a moment."
"He's-" I stopped talking when my ex-ally slowed down and entered the shop I was at. I held my breath and kept my head down into my phone. He was still on his phone, talking quietly.
"Yeah, yeah it's still on." He mumbled, before ordering a coffee to go.
"Is he at your location?"
I didn't reply, terrified Biggs would notice me. I heard sirens, and Biggs swore, ducking out of the store. But it was too late. He was cornered. Guns were pointed at him as he put his phone down on the ground. He turned around, facing the shop as a police officer handcuffed him.
His eyes met mine. Instantly he knew it was me.
I was alive.
I was the reason why he was caught.
Fuck.
A grin appeared on his face. He nodded at me, before mouthing something to me.
