-NINFA'S P.O.V-
"What's the story of the darklord?" One of the older kids in my class asks.
"We haven't gotten that far in lessons, James."
"When is it in the lesson?" Another asks.
"Possibly in 6th. When you guys go through the other history things."
"Tell us your story?"
"Over lunch." a girl adds.
"So I take it everyone is lunching with me?"
"Yes." They all shout.
The bell rings for lunch and they gather all their things for meal. Wouldn't it be.. dinner? Or breakfast? No one knows really.
"I once lived in a realm where joy would only come from healing the sick humans. There was training we would be given in case of a demon attack. It was heaven. But this realm had started it's downfall because our father's had abandoned the humans. I decided to help the humans and so I had fought for them. I didn't know I'd be lucky enough to live after meeting Valerie."
A few of the children gasps. "Lord." Or. "King." Or even. "darklord."
"The rest of the story is more ours than it is mine."
They all say sad awes. After a few minutes my heart races. As I look over to the door, it opens and she comes in. Though, she's not cloaked.
"Full class lunch, Nin?"
"They wanted to know my story. It's pretty lame up til you."
"Tell us your story, my lord?" A demon girl with braided hair says between sips of her drink.
"My whole life I was pretty lost and alone. No moving forward and no happiness. The stories I'm sure you've heard of me are true, I was chained and caged. I was never really free until I found my angel."
I feel myself blush, though I try to hide it. A little impossible. I find it amazing after all these years she gets me so flustered. And how she so easily talks about her past without a stutter like she use to. She's no longer afraid.
"Isn't it forbidden?" Another demon asks.
"A story for another time. Ninfa, mind if I borrow you for a moment?"
Her asking that is strange cause she could just stop time? I nod to her and leave the room with her. Dakota sits against the wall.
"Dakota?"
"Momma." She smiles widely to me.
"What's going on?"
"She went around the school looking for you." Joel comes from the class next to Dakota.
"Babygirl, why? You know I have class to teach."
"Miss you."
I pick her up and she hugs me tightly. "I miss you too, babygirl. Mom's got to work, momma's got to work. Why would you run from uncle Luke?"
"Story."
How could she possibly have known I was telling my class the story? She's magical beyond being. And she hasn't even shown full power.
Valerie looks as shocked as I am. And I'm floored. It's almost funny.
She's already here and the day isn't long. Might as well... "Do you want to spend the rest of the day with me? You have to behave."
"Yes!" She yells. I wince to the loudness in my ear. "Momma.." She whispers.
I try not to laugh but I do smile to her whisper meant to be a sorry. "I guess I got a teaching assistant. But this is a one time thing, Dakota."
"Okay."
"I'm going too."
"Misty. I love you, but you can't."
"Misty." Dakota says.
"You both can't interupt." I'm left with no real choice.
"Okay."
"Okay."
I open the door for Misty and she walks in. Valerie takes her leave after she kisses my cheek and I head back in the classroom.
"Someone got to go on adventure today. Everyone this is Dakota. And Misty."
"Hello Dakota." They all say to her.
Dakota hides in my neck and I can't help the hugest smile to it. She's shy and I am not sure why. But it's cute.
"She's beautiful like you." Xavier says.
"The blue and red makes purple. It makes sense. It's a beautiful color." A troll girl says.
"She is rather adorable." I poke Dakota's side.
"Momma no." She says in a giggle.
"Go be with Misty, Babygirl. I have to teach, okay?"
"Okay."
I set her down and she climbs on Misty's back. The bell rings and lunch time is over. A student burps loudly and sends Dakota into a laughing fit. The class laughs with her. Unprofessionally, I laugh too.
It takes a few moments before we actually get back on topic and begin learning again. Dakota falls asleep on Misty's back and of course she's sucking her thumb. I'd expect nothing less than her crazy adorableness.
I get through the rest of the lesson easily without Dakota being a bother. Although Misty had her snarls to some of the demons. I never noticed it in Valerie but I do notice a smell of death from a few of the children whom are demon in my class.
Maybe I'm use to Valerie's smell. I don't remember her smelling like that ever, even in the beginning. Not really sure.
I walk down the hall at the end of the day. Dakota passed out on the tiger still. Valerie holds my hand as we keep Dakota in our sights and head to daycare.
"I think she's grown bored. Her friends have grown out of this care. They were older than her to begin with."
"I know, Val. And she was welcomed into my class with no problem. But she should learn to make new friends." I sigh. "Did she take you from another meeting?"
"Opposite actually. I was here already. Just on other side of the building."
"Why?"
"Nice to see you too, Ninfa." He says as he runs up behind me.
"Elder. How shocking."
"He said he was bored." Valerie shrugs.
"Heaven is boring. Plus I do like seeing the beautiful Dakota."
"And what are you teaching, Elder."
"Valerie was having problems with witches in dark magic."
"So I called upon him. He knows more magic than I know. And how to teach the magically inclined to use their magic for good and other things." Valerie's thumb runs across my hand. An ocd thing I've noticed over the years. As if she's worried she's not having good ideas and wants my approval.
"Sounds like a good idea, Val."
"I'm glad you think so. I had to drain power from the west coven today. The council couldn't do it on their own so I had a field job."
"Hm."
We walk in in time to see Joel pick up his baby and Luke laughs lightly at the sight of Dakota. Joel shakes his head and joins in the light laughter.
"She was like this the whole rest of the day."
"I'm sorry. I didn't notice she slipped out until it was a little too late."
"He called me freaking out and everything, Ninfa." Joel adds to Luke's words.
"Nah. She's okay. I think maybe a quick dinner and then bed for Dakota." Valerie says.
I would agree. Luke and Joel say their byes and we also head home. The Elder probably went to bother them more because no one but us can get onto the island unless allowed by Valerie.
Valerie kisses my cheek and holds me tightly. She sighs after a moment of the peaceful holding. I love these moments so much but hate when they have to end.
"I have to cook."
"You don't. I can summon."
"I know you could but I'd rather not make you waste energy."
"Lowest one I have."
"I know, Nin. But you're going to need your strength." She whispers in my ear the last part.
"Oh. That so?"
"Totally up to you but maybe."
"We'll see." I laugh lightly.
She turns and begins dinner. It doesn't take long to get it done. Though Dakota is still out.
"She's about to drool on Misty."
"Memories."
"That was fucking gross, Ninfa."
"Could have been worse."
I watch the drool hit Misty. She growls loudly and mumbles inaudible words. I hold my laughter because I really don't want Misty mad at me.
"Dakota. Mommy cooked."
Dakota stirs for a moment before falling off of Misty with a loud thud. But she stands and waits to be lifted into her chair. Never once did she do this for me cooking. I know how to cook more than Valerie but it's not better than hers.
We eat and she's literally dozing off between bites. She just slept a full 5 hours and even slept for the extra hour the Valerie cooked. I don't get this girl but she's the reason I cherish sleep.
"How did you know I was telling a story, Dakota."
She shrugs and smiles. "Story."
"I think she used her magic, Ninfa.." Valerie speaks through the strong open link again.
"I think she did too. She did something to have caused her so much weariness."
Valerie sighs and I join her. Dakota nearly faceplants her plate. She's so tired.
I lightly brush her from crumbs before taking her in my arms. Getting her ready for bed is so much easier with her tired and nearly dead. I kiss her forehead before laying her to rest, she causes a small drain and I healed something I just don't know what.
I walk out and into our room. Flopping on the bed never seemed so lovely. I mean, I love Valerie's arms but the bed is closer.
"You alright, love?"
"Honestly a little tired."
"Shameful."
"Maybe."
She undresses and I quickly do as well. The night contains cuddles and I'm happy for it. I love our sexual adventures but sometimes cuddling is all the love that I need or want.
"Maybe she should work with the Elder when she grows older."
"She's got you, Valerie. Your magic is not dark."
"I suppose. Just always have those fears."
"I know, baby. But you honestly think she would resent you when she loves you so much right now."
"Right now is right now."
I sigh and trace random shapes on her bare toned stomach.
"I would like to believe that our children would love me when they get older to understand."
"Valerie, she brought you from hell. You don't think she doesn't understand? Or know at least parts? She's still here, still begs to sleep in your arms."
"I suppose. Just a fear, love. I'm sorry."
"How was your day?"
"Witches. Elder dude. Dakota calling me so she can fall asleep for the nap. You and then now."
"Hm. Sounds a little boring." I joke.
"And yours?"
"Taught. They're learning so fast."
"What grade is your current class?"
"Guess would be 3 or getting to be."
She kisses my forehead and I sigh to it. I love her kisses.
"Let's rest love. Sun doesn't wait for anyone."
"Could for us."
"And then it shall be done."
She takes a deep breath but says no words. It's silent. Peaceful.
"Let's rest." She whispers to me.
"My hero doesn't have to ask again."
I fall asleep to her quickly. Fall to my love. Fall to our family. The love, I fall.
