-NINFA'S P.O.V-

I set out a piece of cake for Dakota. She claps her hands and laughs loudly as we sing to her. I cling onto Valerie for a moment after the singing ends.
I float to her level. Which..
"I ha.." I stop her with a kiss.
One thing I've avoided. For all the years I've been with Valerie. Is saying 'happy birthday.' But now I can. It means something different for the last 2 years.
"Happy birthday, my love." I whisper against her lips.
She leans into the kiss and takes my breath away. I can't help the smile.
"Pg-3."
"We are her parents." Valerie and I say to Joel.
"But not Destiny or Tyler's."
I sigh and pull away. Dakota finishes her cake before everyone else and waits for them to finish so they can play again.
"It's nice of you to lend your place, Joel." Valerie says.
"Technically it's still your place. Plus I know you won't bring anyone else on your little get away because of special reasons."
"Thank you anyway."
"You're welcome. Anything for my niece."
Luke comes out of the bedroom with their baby. Pointy ears and absolutely beautiful. I'm not sure how but she looks like Luke, it's a good thing I believe. I'm happy for them.
Valerie and I are trying but I don't think it's working. Or maybe we need more time. Last time it was her precome that got me pregnant. So I know she's working.
I don't know why I want another child, honestly. I just do. I love Dakota, yes. I love our small family, yes... But I just want more.
I want Dakota to be a sister. To be as kind as her sibling as she is to us. To show her love more than she has shown before.
Dakota runs around the room, high from all the sugar. I catch Valerie sneak bits of the icing off the cake. It's weird though because it's her cake too? It literally says 'Dakota and mommy.'
Her arms wrap around me. "Having fun?"
"I am. And so is she."
"Oh I know. I'm happy she made friends. More shocked actually."
"Think she would have denied them cause they're different?"
"One goblin, other wizard. I'm worried about Tyler. I don't want any trouble happening."
"I get what you mean, babe. Scares me too but that's part of being a parent, right?"
"I suppose so."
"Mommy. Momma. Play."
She's learning words so fast for only 2. Her growth rate is human growth rate but I believe that she is learning faster than any human would. It's a good thing, I suppose.
"What do you want to play, babygirl?"
"Ha..hi..hide. Go.. See.."
"Hide and go seek?" I question her obvious wording.
"Yes."
"Alright. Everyone hide. We'll count."
Everyone scatters. Valerie turns invisible to them and follows them. Cheating. But awesome.
As I finish counting, she points out one. Joel. She smirks.
"Hey, Joel." I crouch in front of him.
"She's invisible, isn't she?"
"I am not." She says and stands next to me. Her aura around her gone and I know she's visible. Pulling off the lie to him fabulously.
"Whatever."
Valerie sneaks off and slides under the table. "What's up, babygirl? You know your foot is sticking out?"
Valerie start a tickling Dakota's foot and it sends our babygirl into giggles. The smile on her face and the love I see in Valerie's eyes make my heart swell with happiness.
I sneak over and sit behind Destiny. She hugs between the couch and wall.
"Hey, Destiny. Nice spot to hide."
She screams to my voice. I startled her. For a moment she stays still. Then she makes her way into my arms.
"Scared."
"Awe. I'm sorry I scared you. You'll be okay. I wouldn't hurt you."
She hugs me and smiles. As she lets go, Dakota calls her over. They shout for Tyler together.
"He's invisible. Rather interesting how fast he has come into power."
"And you think it's normal for Dakota to be doing magic at two?"
"Babe. She's like made of the most epic of all beings. I wouldn't have been shocked if she added protection to you while she was in the whom."
"She might have. Don't know."
Dakota runs into air. Or Tyler. They both fall back with thuds. And Tyler reappears.
They both go into laughter. I'm glad because I had a small anxiety attack. I hate when Dakota cries. And it's her birthday. I don't want her birthday to be sad and filled with tears.
"Are you ready to say bye to your friends, babygirl? We've got to get to bed. You do have school tomorrow."
"No."
"You'll see them at school tomorrow, babygirl."
"Mommy.."
"Nuh-uh. Don't you dare. You listen to your mother."
"Okay.." She pouts. My damn she looks like Valerie right now. It's adorable.
I pick up Dakota. Her friends leave for home by their parents as we do. The second we get home though, Dakota is covered in a tired blanket.
"Come on, babygirl. Let's get you to bed."
I take her upstairs. She brings her thumb to her mouth and starts her journey to sleep.
An image is given. One of me smiling and looking own on her. Valerie in the background with big smiles to us.
"My precious baby. Rest."
She falls asleep to my words and I make way to our bedroom. I flop on the bed and Valerie laughs to me.
"Not funny."
"Nope. Adorable."
"No."
"I had fun today."
"I'm glad."
"I am too, actually. Though I would have loved more cake."
"But you stole little pieces. And it was your cake too, Valerie."
"But it was her party, Nin. Wasn't going to steal her day."
I pull Valerie on top of me. "It is your day too. You have no more reason to fear this day."
"I know. Maybe I wanted something else that's sweet."
"Oh? What do you mean?"
"I think you know exactly what I mean."
"Not a clue."
Her hand slowly goes up my thigh.
"Still not a clue."
Her hand stops and cups my cheek.
"I'm getting mix signals, Val."
She pulls back and laughs loudly. I don't get her sometime. I let her laugh for a minute.
"Of course I want you, Ninfa. But I was trying to be like romantic or something. Didn't work."
"You're ridiculous and I love you for it." I get out in laughter.
"But you can pull it off."
"I cannot. I do what I know you love. I don't see how that's romantic."
Her hands cup my cheeks. "You're so beautiful."
"That would be romantic."
"But I didn't do anything."
I lean into her warm hand and smile. "You are naturally romantic. You just don't think that you are."
"But I seriously am not doing anything I wouldn't normally do."
I raise my eyebrow and wait for her to get it. It takes a second before my words really loop back to this.
"Oh..."
I turn my head and kiss her palm lightly. She sighs to it. But I know this sigh to be one of happiness.
I turn back to her. Her hands move but grab my own.
"I just don't want to lose this, you know? Say in another 5, you get bored of me.."
I try to hear the rest of what she's saying but it doesn't work out. My laughter is uncontrolling to her words. Her hands drop from mine and wait for me to stop my laughter.
I sigh loudly. "Valerie. You're more than enough. And I assure you. I feel no different from day one of us being intimate. The first time we had, I knew I loved you. You satisfied me then and you most certainly do now. I'm always going to want you. And I'm only going to want you. You worry for no reason."
"So our sex isn't boring?"
"Reverse the question. Do you think our sex is boring?"
"Fuck no. I have way too much pleasure and fun with it."
"Exactly. So why worry?"
She hesitates because she has no answer. My point is proven. Now I'm lost in her eyes.
I still love this woman more than anything. The black hair that curls pass her shoulders. The ruby eyes. Her smile that can be so compelling without being.
The manly smell she wears. The way her skin is pale but owns a custom tan. Way too beautiful to be a demon.
"You're my everything, Valerie. My one and only. I would never tire of you. Well, except the night's you take me and then we don't end up sleeping because of other reasons."
"My defense, the spirit of some crazed murder was set loose."
"I know. But you get what I mean. These years, the upcoming years, I wouldn't give a damn if we always do our love making the same. It's more than fulfilling. If I ever seemed to give the signal that it wasn't, I am sorry."
"You didn't. I just worry that one day I will not be enough."
"But you forget. True love isn't about you not being enough. It's about us as one that work together. And I think we're doing pretty kickass together."
She leans down and lightly kisses my lips. I frown when she pulls away quickly.
"Don't pout, love."
"But I didn't get to kiss back. You know I hate it."
"Yeah, but I can't sleep in jeans. You know I hate that."
She climbs off of me. As she undresses, I do so as well. Though unlike her, I go full nude.
"Nin."
"I didn't do anything. Just merely getting ready for bed."
"Mm. Sure."
I sit at the edge of the bed. She walks over and lightly kisses my lips again. Not allowing me to kiss back.
"Val.."
"I want something."
"Okay? That being?"
"You. I want you as my present."
"Present? I should have stayed clothed. Make you unwrap me."
"No. No. I love this. Just allows me to get to what I want faster."
"That being?"
"I think you know, Ninfa."
She leans down and takes my lips again. I'm given the chance to kiss back but the kiss is filled with passion and hunger. I'm in smiles as she steals my breath away.
"I want you." She mumbles against my lips before reclaiming me in a kiss.
