chapter thirteen

Guilt gone...

Dora woke up feeling so tired and weak, she shielded her eyes from the Sun's ray and turned to see Jaden sitting besides her.
'hey' she smiled at him.
'are you okay?, you fainted'. He squeezed her hand.
'I'm fine, I'm sorry I got you scared. I was just..... '
'it's okay babe, you are fine now, no more lawerent. You are safe. '
Dora closed her eyes , she hated being weak but until lawerent is gone for good she wouldn't be completely safe.
She knew he wanted her and her daughter, it was so strange how he came to know about chimamanda but she wasn't going to take chances.
' it's okay '. Jaden reassured her.
'Things just got worse than before ,right?'. She sighed.
'And it wasn't your fault, stop over thinking this. I promise you I'll keep you both safe.' He looked into her eyes with a sad smile lingering on his face.
It was hard for Dora to believe jaden but she had to , lawerent had inflated a lot of pain on her , she could bare all but right now he was getting her daughter involved in this and she hated it.
'Right now all we have to do is concentrate on our baby ', Dora smiled
'I love that spirit, keep it up and you would be fine'.

Lawerent was slowly loosing his mind, he kept on seeing images of Dora in his sleep. Everything was beginning to irritate him.
' are you even listening to me?' His lawyer sighed.
Lawerent knew the man was getting tired of all his drama, he was himself, but what was there to do? He had come a long way .
'You have to understand the consequences of your action...'
'I need to see her ' he blurted out rubbing his neck.
'Who?'
' I need to see my child..I need to see her , Dora can't keep her away from me .she is mine!' He banged on the table.
' can you at least calm down , you wouldn't leave here anytime soon with this attitude of yours '.
Lawerent stood up and walked to the door, he was not going to let Dora win, not this time.
' I need to get out of here just for a day ,' he turned to his lawyer with a weak smile ' you can arrange that , can't you' .
His lawyer began shaking his head, 'I can't do that we already have too much at stake, and God! there is a restrain order, how do you plan to do that?'.
Lawerent sighed and sat down back on the hard sit. 'I'm sure there are people who would want something around here'.
He looked around bringing down his voice, 'look I know you have been faithful ,I promise you I'll reward you when I leave here , but I really need to see my child. I need to see her. '
The lawyer kept staring at lawerent like he had six heads.
'Are you helping me?' , he frowned, there was a tint of desperation in his eyes or maybe not.
'Okay , I'll see what can be done. Look permit me to say this but don't think of hurting the child , she has nothing to do with this.'
Lawerent scoffed, looking away
'This is serious , you should not go near her'.
'I understand, God! She's my blood, you think I'll hurt her?.I'm not a monster .' He whispered the last part, rubbing His forehead.
'I'll leave now, be careful .' The lawyer left.

Lawerent released the air he had been holding and stood up, he was going to see his daughter for the first time in all these years.
What were are favorite color, her best dress, songs, did she love Christmas?
He groaned in frustration, all he wanted was a moment with her ,asking Dora was out of the question, since everyone else thought he was a rogue, an evil , obsessed demon.
Maybe they were right?
Maybe he was lost and needed love and companion, no one ever cared for him even his own parent abandoned him, all his life he had been with David and he felt indebted to him, down to even the air he breath.

Was that His problem?
The anger that rose with the nausea of being indebted to people His entire life?

He shook his head as if to get the thoughts away

'This is not the time to feel sad and pitiful Lawerent, don't loose focus now!'. He yelled to himself .

In a matter of hours you will see her.

Lawerent stood outside the parking lot of the school, watching as students ran out of their classes. He had managed to talk to the securities and they had let him inside. He kept searching for her with the photo in his hands, slowly he saw her , she was in the middle with her friends laughing.
His heart started beating fast, his palms got all sweaty , he couldn't believe he was looking at his daughter, she was just few inches away from him.
Remember ,you have to be careful with her , don't let her know who you are. This is a dead end Lawerent.
His lawyer's voice echoed in his head.

'I can do this....I can be...nice '. He murmured to himself.

Chimamanda waved her friends and sat down waiting for her mom to pick her. She kept writing in her journal and never took notice of the man watching her from across the lot, or when he started walking towards her.
'Hi  Angel ' Lawerent smiled.
Chimamanda looked up ,closing her journal .
'Hello ' she smiled back.
Lawerent inhaled , she had his brown eyes and his lips. He kept staring at her with wide eyes.
' are you looking for someone?' She asked him.
Lawerent shook his head, 'not really , can I sit here with you?'
'Yes , it's okay. I'm just waiting for my mom'.
'Nice '
'So ...I'm chimamanda. What's your name?'
He turned to face her, observing all her facial features. She was so beautiful.. Just like her mother.
'Um... My name is Kelvin, actually my daughter used to go here few years ago'.
He lied.
'Really, what's her name?'.
'Vera but..she ..died.'
Wow two lies in 1minute , cool way to make a relationship Lawerent. This is getting interesting.
'I'm so sorry sir, that's too sad.' She touched his hands .
Lawerent smiled, she was also as caring as her mother.
'Thank you. I came to meet you because you remind me so much of her. I'm sorry if I scared you. '
'Its OK, we can be friends if you want. I usually go home late anyways.'
Ohh yes!!
'Your parents would be okay with that?'
He pretended to feel concerned.
'Its OK..I mean its only in school here.'
'I would like that. Thank you.'
'I will be leaving now .I have to get something before mommy comes. Bye Mr Kelvin.'
'Bye '
Bye my child , he wanted to add.
He watched her leave, together with the little peace he felt. Lawerent knew he had to see her everyday, he would do all he could to make it possible. He looked down at his hand she had touched and smiled. This was something he would never let go. Even if he had to loose everything he had, he won't loose her, he would rather die than loose her.

He felt a wave of accomplishment in him.
This was the start of a new thing for him.

He could feel it...
