chapter twenty five

'They say the things you don't know or have an idea about can't possibly hurt you right??

Well I say they keep piling up till they are able to destroy you ...'

Lawerent sat down from reading his essay.
The whole room was quiet , he knew everyone was watching him.
'Umm...that was some very intense speech lawerent. Thank you' the teacher spoke up.

'I think we are all trying our very best to get better, now most of us will be graduating in a few weeks and I know that's a lot considering how much time you all have put into this programme and in getting better for your families. I wish you all the best after here and I hope you get your lives back on track, thank you all we are done for the day'.

Lawerent sat as everyone left the room, he was graduating in weeks and he had no one to go back to. The reality of him not been able to talk or see her anymore finally hit him hard.
Everything would be normal except he wasn't ever going to drink or go back to his old ways, he was doing it for her but now...

'Earth to lawerent' Lillian walked up to him and sat down .

' hey. How have you been?' He tried to smile.

' I'm good but you are not so stop pretending and tell me ehats wrong'

She always knew.

' I was just thinking about her Lillian. It's almost check out time for me and I still cannot seem to reconnect with my Daughter. You know at first I only wanted to do this for her and not being able to see her and tell her that hurts.' He looked down.

' Look at me lawerent, I know how you feel trust me it took years for my little girl to accept me back. I was broken , I felt like all my time here was wasted and got nothing.'
She stopped to face him.

'You have to want this before you can want her back, you have to accept that the change you are going through is not just for her but for yourself as well. That way it will be easier to go to her'.

Lawerent shook his head, ' She is disappointed, her mother won't even let me Mile near her '

' what do you want lawerent, I don't mean for her. What do you want for yourself?'

Lawerent wasn't even sure he knew the answer to that question.
What he wanted?
He had spent all his lifetime chasing over an imaginative family, letting anger and hatred consume him. He couldn't even function properly without alcohol in his system, he was an asshole to a lot of people.

' I don't know Lillian, I really don't. I just thought I could get his done with and then move on with her you know...be there for my Daughter. I never really thought forgiving myself was included'.

Lillian got up and extended her arm , ' walk with me'.
Lawerent got up and followed her out.

' you know if there is anything I have learnt about life is that you cannot decide where it goes or what comes but if there is anything you can do, is to determine the end point...the result' .

Lawerent knew she was right, like hell the woman was super intelligent and maybe he has been so hard on himself and it was time he owned up to his mistakes and let it all go.

' I think you are right Lillian, I think I have to take a step and do what's right for me and for her too. I know Dora won't give in so easily but I will definitely give it my best shot.'

She smiled, ' that's exactly what you need lawerent'.

They stopped in front of her car.
' you know what , maybe it isn't bad to have friends after all. I mean you have been a great friend to me. Thank you'.

' it was the right thing to do lawerent. I'm glad I could help..see you tomorrow? '
She got into the car.

'Sure' lawerent waved and walked away.

Hey guys...its been ages...
I'm terribly sorry about the break in transmission..lol
I have been quite busy with school and work..its been stressful but I will survive..

This has to be one of the shortest chapters I have ever written but I'll make it up with a longer one.

So thanks for staying with me on this book...sadly there are just a few chapters left but it's been an amazing experience.
