I hear the soft lullaby of the birds as they perch themselves on my mother's, and now father's, tree. As I look out my window, I notice the sun has arisen. I rise with the sun, this morning.
I gently get out of my bed, and I make it. Since I believe that everyone is free, I have no maids. My guards were something that I couldn't control though, since my father made it a law. I pick up my beautiful tan dress and quickly take a shower. When I'm done and out off the restroom, I feel like someone is watching me.
I look over to see my main guard Damon starring attentively at me.
"Is there a problem, Damon?" I ask knowing that he probably didn't mean to look at me like that.
"No, My Queen. Good morning. I hope that the day will bring us multiple steps closer to conquering the Everlasting."
He says the last word with so much disgust that a shiver runs down my body, as if he spoke these words to me. Automatically I stood. I calmly let the words flow out of my mouth as if I had rehearsed it.
"Damon, these people are not our enemies. Wars always start when there is a disagreement in a subject or two. Even though my father had started this war, I will surely finish it. I would like to do so with you by my side, Damon. But what I will not do is have us fight out of anger. We will fight for my subject's freedom"
After my 'speech' I watch as he studies my figure. From my thick brown-red curls, and pass my brown colored neck. To the soles of my tan flats. As he does this to me I gladly take this as an opportunity to check him out as well.
He is wearing his uniform that blends into his skin. It is tan and has armor placed over it. Even with it on you could tell that he was muscular. As I slowly trail my eyes back up, I knew what awaited me.
As my eyes finally meet his blue and green ones, I notice him smirking.
"What is it now?" I asked him, even though I already know the answer.
As soon as he was about to reply, someone barged into the room. I grabbed my sword out of its scarab and lunged in front of Damon, already in the correct fighting position.
I looked up to see one of my own guards. He looked frantic and pale, as if he had seen a ghost.
"Your Highness! There had been someone with enemy colors at the gates!"
" 'Had been'? Do you mean that he is in my castle without any supervision?"
He tries to speak again, but I cut him off.
"Did you not just say that he was wearing enemy colors?"
My voice was unearthly calm. I could feel Damon coming behind me. Trying to give the guard a chance to leave. To the guard's liking, he was able to slip away.
"My Queen"
Damon knows that whenever he says those two simple words, I will automatically calm down. He turns me so that I am facing him.
"Yes, Angel?"
Damon knows exactly what to do when I call him that.
He gently kisses my head delicately. It feels as though I'm getting kissed by an angel.
I'm finally ready to go and take my place on the throne again.
"Let's go meet our unwanted guest."
