I knock on the door and she comes to open it, she looks at me and throws the crutches down and hops to come hug me. I hug her back and tell her everything, from the very beginning..It took all night but it was worth it . Tomorrow at the talent show, I'm going to give it my all, my very all.

NEXT DAY
I wake up to the sound of my phone ringing and realise that I forgot to tell Mom that I was sleeping over. I pick up the phone and pray that she doesn't give me a huge lecture
"Hello?" I say shinking my face if that's even possible
"MACKENZIE FRANCIS ZIEGLER WE WERE WORRIED SICK! THANK GOD ASHLEY CALLED"
"MOM, MOM wait I can explain!" I reply hoping she'll listen to me
"You got two minutes." I could hear the biterness in her voice it scared me slightly
"Well..here's the thing. I was on my way from the tutoring that you know Brandon does," Yea the one I totally accidently skipped, don't look at me like that I've gotta lie to her..
"And then I maybe might have stopped for an 'In-n-out burger' because after all that tutoring I was hungry-" I continue but she stops me
"Do you really think I'm buying this? You told me the same thing 2 years ago when you slept at Nina's house" Oh crap I thought that was a dream, I stay silent for a good ten seconds
"Are you getting bullied?" she says with a concerned tone
"NO, No, no" I'm not it was a one time thing, Sophia's never done such thing before. I don't even know why I cried, I'm ashamed of myself honestly
"Mhm. Well get up, come home get dressed and go to school!" I look at my little watch and see that she woke me up just in time.
"Okay be right there, bye mom"
"Oh by the way , you're grounded. Bye sweetie" she ends the call and I stare at Brynn who had just woken up and heard all of that. We both burst out laughing and she makes fun of me
"Welp,I gotta go before she kills me. Are you coming to school?" I ask she shakes her head and I nod.
"Well see you soon" I say picking my school things up that had dried through the night and then opening her bedroom door
"Wait kenz I-" I turn back, she looks back at me and says never mind. I wonder what that was all about. What matters is that I've missed her and I'm happy she'll be staying forever. I walk out her door and say bye to the rest of her family making my way to my house.
[TIME SKIP]
AT SCHOOL
I walk into my last period at school and I legit looked like an emo all day because I'm saving the outfit for the show tonight.
"Hey Kenzie!" someone calls out, I turn back to see Lauren behind me, we hug and walk into class together where FINALLY she sits next to me and not John.
"You skipped 2 periods?" she asks
"Mhm , don't wanna sit next to the person you call a human" I reply and she giggles slightly but then keeps a straight face. I know she's hiding something, it's no coincidence that he comes to school with scratches covered with concealer, yes it's so obvious for me at least.
"Are you coming tonight? To the show I mean"
"Yea, John's performing.." she says awkwardly but I smile at her, I don't think she know I'm performing , with all this going on I haven't spoken to her that much
"Well same here"
"OH wow you auditioned , congrats!!" she squeals with excitement, I say thank you and we get on with our work only to be stopped by the bell which had rung earlier due to the show. We both laugh and walk out the class making our way backstage to the dressing rooms that cutely had my name in.
"So, this is my outfit" I say taking it out my bag, she smiles.
"I call dibs, I'm doing your hair" I chuckle and she does the same picking up the curling iron and plugging it in.
"Yea but dude I can't anymore. I don't know how to fix things" we suddenly stopped to listen and Lauren silently puts her finger to her lip.
"Look, what I suggest is you clear this mess you got yourself into first. It's not fair what you're doing to Mackenzie" a voice that sounded like Brandon tried conviencing Johnny to talk to me. I sniff a burning smell and I look at Lauren then jump up from my seat and scream a bit.
"OH CRAP SORRY" Luckily the hair's fine hehe.
"Lauren?" John calls out from outside the dressing room
"UH NO" she says staying quiet and I shoot her a look that read 'really'. We hear some steps going away and I a face palm
"THE SHOW WILL BE STARTING SOON, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU'RE READY" an announcent comes through making me and Lauren rush to get me dressed

"All right I'm ready" I say breathing in and out. I'm so nervous I don't even think I'll be able to sing. We walk out the dressing room spotting Brandon and Johnny already there. Brandon had an ear piece like the ones people have backstage to organise a show and John.. Oh John he looked- let me shut up
I walk up behind him and for old times sake I do the '1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8' thing we used to do back in dance he looks at me slightly and I look down.
I tap Brandon on the shoulder and appologise for not coming yesterday which lifted a big weight off my shoulders, he says its fine, hugs me and wishes good me good luck. I'm the last act of the night , yay me..
[30 MINS LATER]
"Next up we got THE Johnny Orlando singing 'Skyscraper'" Everyone claps and he goes onto the stage, I whisper good luck to him, he looks back and smiles picking up his guitar.
His act was honestly amazing, his voice is so soothing and just breath taking honestly.
"For the final act we got THE MACKENZIE ZIEGLER performing 'Too good at goodbyes'" I grab my guitar and walk onto the stage.
