chapter 23-Can I be her?

"JUST GET OUT" i yell at her and with another sigh she walks out the door and shuts it

it's going to be a long lonely night..

brandon: hi stranger

i've been meaning to calling him of course i have. i mean he stayed. i have no clue how to repay him

me: hi

i wipe my tears and set my phone aside, he'll take a while to answer, his parents are a bit of education freaks. With all due respect but they've gotta let the guy live, we're teenagers that's what we live for.

It's my fault isn't it? John left because of me and with Christmas coming up it'll be just awkward with the winter dance coming up next week, man i totally forgot... i'm sure i could go with someone else i don't need him, he needs me. selfish i know but it's the way I convince myself that I don't need him and so I don't need to cry over him.

brandon: are you up for a breather?

if I go and someone notices, I'll be grounded for life.

me: i can't i'm grounded :(

i do want to see him, he's like my happy place now. wait! i've got it, my rooftop nobody goes there anymore, me and johnny used to stay up there for hours when we were little

me: how about you come? we could talk upstairs on the roof

brandon: yea why not, time to sneak XD out see ya in a bit

me: you really gotta stop it with the XD hehe

brandon: whoops hahaha i'll try XD

I made sure i ate a full plate of food so that mom wouldn't come up to my room, it was so sickening i threw up right after. don't want to look worse than i already do..

I throw myself under the covers and wait for mom to come check up on me , she does, gives me a sloppy kiss on the cheek and leaves making me jump out of bed. A phew pebbles are thrown into my room and i come out to the window. He climbs up to my window and we both climb up to the roof.

Brandon's POV

We sat against the chimney and looked at each other before bursting into quiet giggles. she looked beautiful even with pyjamas, her cheeks were rosy and warm. Her eyes glistened and they spoke to me

"are you gonna keep staring at me or what?" she laughs making my cheeks explode

"welp, I can't help it. The stars are right beside you" i lie, she looks to her right and giggles shaking her head but the mood changed faster than a gear shift

"Thanks, thank you for being there for me the other night." she says letting out a loud sigh and laying down to see the beautiful stars above us

"They're so beautiful" I say, she points to one of them and looks at me

"That's Orlando" she says looking into my eyes

"you like him don't you?"

"mixed feelings" she replies looking away from me

"i know how you feel" i confess, I've never done that not even with my own best friend. Johnny usually has his own problems, i don't want to overload him with my own

"could you talk about it? i'd like to get my mind off things" she's now staring at me once more

"we could save that for another day.." i say

"oh that's fine. um are you going to the dance with anyone?" she questions.

As a matter of fact, i never go.. I help organise it but never get to see the full outcome, no one's ever asked me... my brother's a bit more popular than me. Hunter can get girls by simply snapping his fingers, they all come running to him like he's their everything! I'm not saying i'm jealous but for once i'd love a little attention every now and then. I'm done being the outcast of my family.. ok so what i'm not sporty? they don't care. I tell everyone they're education freaks but they're not, they're just sports freaks..

"brandon?" i pair of hands wave around my face snapping me out of thought

"oh sorry. i was stuck in thought but i'm not planning on going" she looks at me and bursts into laughter, loud laughter

"I won't let you, you're coming with me now so wear something that matches with burgundy and you're good" she giggles leaving me slightly confused. did Mackenzie Ziegler just ask me to the dance?

"Uh-"

"No uh's you're coming and that's final" she crosses her arms confident in what she just said

"fine fine, i won't argue" she spontaneously squeals, she takes out her phone and takes a picture of the sky stating 'guess who's got a date'. my cheeks once more turn tomato red making me feel so embarrassed

"Red cheeks" she laughs looking at me, I set my eyes on hers and we stare at each other smiling for what felt like hours. I take my gaze off of her and she smiles looking down

"I-" we both say in unison

"you go first" i say right after

"I was going to ask you to kiss me but i'd think that's a bit too soon" she giggles once more, it took me a while to process what she had just said but i was very surprised I'll be honest with you.

"I- me- um-" i was clearly making a fool of myself because withing seconds I felt a pair of lips smash against my own, they were so warm and they were smooth and I think I was lost in paradise, my first kiss believe it or not..

I pull away and she does the same

"I'll see you in school tomorrow after school for my tutoring" she smiles and climbs down to her bedroom window, a few seconds after she'd gone in, I did the same

I was happy but reality slapped itself across my face.

John is my best friend, how could I have let this happen?
