~Thomas POV~

I watched as the news flashed on the screen.

Death Toll Rises by 2 million overnight

I tear my eyes away from the screen as Alex hands me some cup noodles. After reading that, I dont have any appetite but the warmth feels good on my hands so I keep the cup anyways.

I glance over our little "family" that has formed over that past year.

Everyone. Laf, Herc, John, the Schuylers, Maria, and Madison. A few months ago, we had decided to move in one apartment.

All because if that disease. That stupid disease.

It had started in Asia, killing off people by the hundreds everyday. A person would only be sick for a day before the infection took over, killing off the person.

When the disease spread like wild fire through Asia, Europe decided to close its borders.

No one in. No one out.

But it was too late. Not even a week after their borders closed, a person with the disease was found in London. Before everyone knew it, people began to die left and right. There was no place to put the dead bodies except in mass graves.

We had all seen the pictures on the news. Piles of bodies, young and old, rich and poor, stacked on top of one another. No one could escape the disease. Death doesn't discriminate.

The worst part, no cure has been found. No vaccine, no antibiotic, no treatment. No way out. No way to cheat Death.

Soon, a case was found in Australia and Africa. As people died in other countries, North America decided to close its borders too.

That was three months ago.

Just a week ago, the disease was spotted in San Francisco. A nation wide panic spread across America. People had locked themselves in their houses, huddling together with their family, wishing for the worst to pass. Praying for Death to pass their door.

As of now, the disease had just reached Texas. It was almost halfway across the nation. Halfway across to us, New York City.

I could feel everyone's worry grow as a map of the spread popped up on the news. Only the slurps of cup noodles filled the room.

Suddenly, a woman in a white coat appeared on the screen. Juding from her clothes and the background, she was a doctor. Her face was filled with urgency and her voice was anxious.

"Please, all remaining people without the disease please report to your nearest hospital. We believe that we have a cure but we need the right blood type. I repeat. Go to your hospital right now! We need that blood!" The woman cried out before dissapearing, being replaced by the normal news.

For a few seconds, we stayed still. Then John broke the silence.

"C'mon! What are you guys waiting for?! Let's go! Get your butts up were going to the hospital!" John said and ushered us all up.
