I can't see anything. They've left me tied up and blindfolded. I hear slow footsteps approach me.

"D-Don't hurt me!" I exclaim as they get closer.

"Why would I do that? Hold still. I'm gonna untie you." He says. I feel him start to tug at the ropes around my ankles.

"What's your name?" he asks.

"Yin."

"I'm Springfield Cohen. But you can just call me Spring. How old are you?"

"Eight. How old are you?" I answer as the ropes around my ankles slip off. He tugs at the ones binding my wrists.

"Thirteen."

The ropes binding my wrists fall to the floor. I pull the blindfold off and turn to look at him.

He's got blondish green hair that covers his left eye and silver eyes. He's wearing a pastel green sweater, black ripped jeans and black work boots. I shake his hand.

"Where am I?" I ask.

"The scrapyard. Or as I like to call it Hell."

I give him a puzzled look. He sighs.

"It's a place where the higher powers send bad people when they do something wrong."

"B-But I'm not bad and I haven't done anything wrong!" I exclaim. He shooshes me.

"Keep your voice down!" he whisper shouts at me.

"S-sorry."

"You must've done something wrong. That's how you end up here." he says. I think of all the bad things I've done. Like lying to my parents or doing something that I'm not supposed to.

But those aren't the kinds of things that would get you here right?

"So this is like a prison?" I ask.

"It's much worse than prison though. I'd take prison over this any day."

"So how do I get out of here?"

"You don't. No one ever leaves." he says.

"But there's gotta be a way out."

"The only way you're getting out of here is if you die. You're stuck here." he replies.

Tears prick the corners of my eyes. I'll never see my family again. I'll never see my brother again.

"Hey. It's okay kid," he hugs me tightly,"Don't cry."

I slowly wipe my tears away with my sleeve.

"It's gonna be alright. Just stick with me and you'll get through it."

I nod my head.

"LIGHTS OUT BRATS!"

"We have to sleep now or we'll be punished." Spring says hurriedly lying down.

I follow suit lying down on the cold hard stone floor.

"Goodnight Yin."

"Goodnight Spring." I reply closing my eyes.
