It's already been a rough day for me and it's only lunch period, yet so much has already happened. This morning Spring actually tried to wake me but I ignored him then cussed him out, then by the time I was halfway to the Mess Hall the bell rang and of course lunch was delayed as well. And on top of all that I was late to work because I was ambushed by all the residents of The ScrapYard on their way out of the Mess Hall. So, of course, The Warden was angry and said we'd discuss punishments later. I have that to look forward to anyway. Anyway, I'm having a pretty fan-fucking-tastic day, so far. I sit at our usual table, eating the usual gourmet ScrapYard menu, moldy bread, soggy crackers, and suspiciously cloudy water in a metal cup. I don't talk at all to my friends no matter how hard they try to make me speak. I feel a small tap on my shoulder and suddenly I get angry. I shoot up staring at the table angrily.

"For the last time, I don't want to talk!"

"Well, that's a fine how do you do," they answer back.

Oh, fuck! I just yelled at Suzie! I groan slamming my head back down on the gray cold table. Out of the corner of my eye, I watch her kneel and place a large hand on my leg.

"What's up, kid?" She asks concerned.

"Nothing," I mumble back.

"I'm not stupid, Princess. I've been watching you from my table. You're not acting like yourself, you've barely spoken, you're barely eating, and you've had your head down the entire period. Tell me what's wrong."

I sigh.

"I'm just having a rough day is all,"

"Aren't we all?" She chuckles.

I don't say anything as she stares at me. Suzie sighs standing up.

"Hey, why don't we get a headstart on walking to work," she says reaching out a hand for me.

I glance at my friends, who of course are not paying attention, before taking Suzie's hand and allowing her to lead me away. Once the noise from the Mess Hall has faded away she finally opens her mouth to speak.

"So, it's obvious that you don't want to talk about what happened today, so let's talk about something else. Let's see...if you could visit any place you'd love to go, where would you go?" she asks.

She's either trying to take my mind off things or she's just trying to get to know me better.

"Greece," I answer quickly.

"Architecture?"

I nod in response.

"That was like you're family's thing right?" she asks.

"Mhm. My dad's construction and design company. Multi-million dollar company."

I was supposed to inherit it when I got older.

"So, you're one of those wealthy kids, huh?"

I chuckle.

"Does it look like I'm wealthy?" I ask. " I may be a Dagenhart but my fortune went out the window once my parents died."

"I read about that in the paper. Dagenhart family tragedy. It was labeled as a double suicide."

Murder. It was fucking murder.

"Got any family left alive?" she asks.

"Possibly," I answer.

I've actually been thinking about this a lot. We only saw my mother and father die. In court, we found out that both sets of grandparents we had died. We had no other family left. So, it was just me and my brother left. I have had no news on my brother since I was brought to this hell. So, he could be alive for all I know. But I refuse to get my hopes up.
