As soon as I had gotten home, I had quickly fallen asleep. After so much excitement that night, it was surprising I had even been able to keep my eyes open for the car ride home, which my mother had filled with excuses to explain her late arrival. However, the following morning, my main concern was still present. What on earth was I going to do about Andy? It shouldn’t have been a hard decision to make. Any fangirl would have happily jumped at the chance to have Andy Biersack’s phone number, and I couldn’t deny I felt the same way. The problem was that I was a typical overthinker and the possibilities of what I could say were endless. After deciding that a text was the safest way to go, I grabbed my Blackberry and quickly opened to my text messages.
After preparing to compose a message to Andy, I was still left with what to say. I could go with the stereotypical and totally lame, ‘Hey, what’s up?’ As soon as the idea appeared in my head, I quickly shot it down. I wasn’t that lame. ‘I had a great time last night. Hope I can see you again soon?’ Umm... no, just no. Before I could think any more on the subject, my phone rang, blasting my “Knives and Pens” ringtone. The Caller ID read, “Andy Biersack.”
“Hello?” I asked, completely shocked and confused.
“Hey, it’s Andy.”
“Yeah, I know Caller ID. How did you get my number though?”
Andy laughed, “I have my ways.” After a short moment of silence, he continued, “I texted myself from your phone last night. You didn’t think I’d just leave all the control to you, did you?”
“Actually, I did. But I’m glad, I guess. To be completely honest, I had no idea how to start a conversation with you,” I said.
“A simple ‘hi’ probably would have sufficed.”
“I didn’t want to seem like one of those girls though.”
“What girls?”
I rolled my eyes, “You know, one of those girls who scrolls through her contacts and texts every single person ‘hi’ just because they’re bored?”
Andy laughed, “You wouldn’t have been one of those girls. Anyway, what are you up to?”
“Not much. Just sitting in my room. I have an essay to work on for my AP Lit class.”
“Aww... high school. Worst four years of my life,” Andy sighed.
“I know. I can’t wait for it to be over, but at the same time, I’m completely dreading it,” I said.
“Why?”
“Well, I have no idea what I even want to do when I leave here. I technically have two more years during college to decide, but it just makes me crazy. I hate how there are people who just know what they want to do. They wake up when they’re 5 years old and decide that being a doctor or a dolphin trainer is what they want to do with their life.”
Andy laughed, “Yeah, well, I’d like to sympathize, but I’ve always known I’ve wanted to sing. It’s just hardwired. I’m sure you’ll figure it out though. If not, you can always be a BVB groupie.”
“Oh, what an aspiration!”
We talked for about 30 more minutes, discussing random things, before Andy said, “Hey, I know this is short notice, but we’re not leaving until later tonight. Would you want to hang out?”
“Of course,” I said. “That would be great. What did you have in mind?”
“Well, is there any good food around here?”
“I know of a few places. How about you pick me up at six and we’ll figure it out from there?” I suggested nonchalantly, despite the fact that I was internally screaming. I gave him my address and waited as he wrote it down.
