10 Months Later
Since Andy had proposed last year, everything had been a whirlwind. I'd started college at USC that fall. After spending the first few weeks excitedly getting used to my classes and going to frat parties, I slowly began to get bored and unhappy. Gabe, Juliet's producer, offered me a job as his assistant. Ever since meeting Juliet and visiting the studio with her, I'd loved the idea of being a producer. I eagerly took the job and dropped out from USC, much to my parent's dissaproval. Instead, I'd been doing menial tasks for Gabe, like getting coffee and running errands, but in return, along with a paycheck, he taught me all I'd need to know about being a music producer. Gabe assured me that within the next year or two, he would talk to the label head about getting me a producing job at the studio.
Andy and I had gotten married that December on the beach in Malibu. It was a small wedding with just our family and closet friends. Juliet, Sammi, and my cousin, Hannah were my bridesmaids, while Andy's groomsmen were the members of Black Veil Brides and his best friend, Matt Good. We had a quick week long honeymoon in Hawaii before returning to LA so Andy could help put the finishing touches on the new album.
In January, the third album was released, becoming Black Veil Brides' bestselling record. The boys spent the next two weeks doing promotional work, like signings and interviews. After that, they left on tour for two months. I filled my time with working at the studio and hanging out with friends. I had even been redecorating the house, something I'd been meaning to do for a while to give it less of a bachelor pad feel. A few weeks after Andy left, I discovered I was pregnant. After calling Andy and informing him, I was surprised at how well he took the news. Even though he hadn't wanted to have children for a while, I could tell he was excited about starting a family. The band returned just as I hit the fourth month of my pregnancy. Andy was unbelievably doting and eager. He'd already bought a variety of gender neutral baby items, no matter how many times I told him to just wait. However, today, we were finally finding out the sex of the baby.
"Stop fidgeting, babe," I said, placing my hand on his shaking leg, as we sat waiting for the nurse in the ultrasound room. It stilled as he turned and smiled at me apologetically.
"Sorry, I'm anxious. I just want to know already."
"I'm sure she'll be in here any minute." As if on cue, the door swung open and a petite brunette woman walked in.
"Hi, I'm Karen, your ultrasound tech. Are you two ready to get started?"
Andy nodded eagerly and Karen started preparing for the ultrasound. After a few moments, she rubbed the cool gel along my stomach causing me to shiver slightly. A blurry image appeared on the ultrasound screen. Karen took a few measurements before checking the gender. Andy gripped my hand as we both stared in suspense. After moving the wand around for a minute, the nurse finally turned to us and smiled, pointing at the image on the screen.
"Well, you're definitely not having a girl," she stated.
I grinned, squeezing Andy's hand. Even though I hadn't been particular about the gender, I had really wanted a boy.
"It feels so real now, after seeing him moving around on the screen. There's really like a little person living in your stomach."
"It sounds kind of creepy when you say it like that."
"You know what I mean, it's real. We're having a baby."
"Yep, we're having a baby." I kissed him softly.
Once we got our ultrasound pictures, paid, and scheduled our next appointment, we left the doctor's office. Both of us were practically buzzing with excitement and already bouncing possible names back and forth.
