The next morning, I woke to an empty bed. I frowned, wondering where Andy had gone. Rolling to my side, I noticed a note written on the hotel’s stationary in Andy’s messy scrawl. In a series of fragmented sentences, it read, “Went to get coffee. Didn’t want to wake you. Feel free to order room service. Love you, starlight. - Andy.” I smiled and slowly got out of bed, immediately heading into the shower. After changing into a Black Veil Brides t-shirt, skinny jeans, and my black Uggs, I applied my eyeliner and mascara.

As I headed out into the hallway, I heard the sound of two voices in the hall arguing. Walking closer, I recognized them as Andy and Jake’s voices.

“Why are you keeping secrets from us? We’re supposed to be a fucking family, and you don’t hide important shit from your family,” Andy said, anger evident in his voice.

I heard Jake respond, his voice quiet and calm, the complete opposite of Andy. “I’m not trying to start anything, Andy. I have been hiding something from you guys, I’ll admit that. I’ve been talking to someone and I really like her. I mean, really really like her, man. And I’ve wanted to tell you guys, but I don’t think you’ll support us dating.”

“Why would you think that? When have we ever been unsupportive?”

“It’s just different this time.”

“Jake, you need to stop this. Bring her to a show or something, I want to meet her. And make sure this is the last time you hide something like this.”

“Fine,” Jake said. “I’ll talk to her. Are we done here?”

“Yeah.” I heard Jake’s door across the hall slam closed and a few seconds later, the key card swiped in our door. I moved away, throwing myself on the bed and grabbing the room service menu.

As Andy entered, I looked up from what probably appeared to be an unordinary fascination with the list of appetizers.

“Hey,” Andy greeted, setting the coffees down and smiling at me. His mood appeared to have done a complete 180 since just a few minutes ago.

“Hi, babe,” I said, returning my attention to the menu. “Did you want something to eat?”

“Sure, what do they have?” Andy and I looked over the menu for a few minutes before deciding to split the pancake combo for two.

It was a huge amount of food with eight pancakes, six sausages, six strips of bacon, and a side of scrambled eggs. I ate a pancake, a sausage, and a strip of bacon and Andy easily finished off the rest of the meal. For such a thin boy, he had an immense appetite.

Andy and I then turned on the TV and watched inane reality shows. Our witty insults about the reality stars were far more entertaining than the actual show. After a while, I noticed Andy was looking a little paler than usual.

“Are you feeling okay?” I asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” he replied, right before he sneezed.

Placing my hand against his forehead, I frowned and said, “I think you have a bit of a fever. Maybe you should rest for awhile.”

“I can’t. I have to leave for rehearsal in 30 minutes. After that, we have soundcheck and then the show.”

“Okay, well, just take it easy. I don’t want you to get sick.”

“I won’t, trust me.”

I rolled my eyes as he got up and began getting dressed in his stage clothes and makeup.

The guys, Sammi, and I all met downstairs in the lobby.

Jake looked a little annoyed at Andy still, but turned to him and said, “I talked to her. She’s going to come to the show tomorrow night.”
