Chapter 11

When I got back Nik was angry as he stood on the porch in turn as I stepped towards him he threw me his watch it was clearly referring to the fact it’s midnight.

“I was busy,” I said simply before making my way to the stairs only to have Nik standing in front of me with a furious expression, his mouth pinched and I knew he was resisting the urge to do something.

Is he going to hit me? I saw that his fist were bunched but other than that he was no threat.

“If you’re not going to let me inside at least give me my bag back so I can leave with what I came with,” I glared, my chest heaved.

His hand down clamped down on my wrist as he hauled me up the porch steps and inside; slamming the door I followed after him.

“Asshole,” I mumble.

Suddenly I was knocked into a firm back and when I toppled back I looked up to see Nik standing looking down at me with helplessness, and frustration.

I blow out glaring up at him, “What?” I spat.

He rolled his eyes before strolling back upstairs.

Great, several unanswered questions and he walks away…again.

I swear if he does that again I’m going to snap his back so I will actually enjoy watching him navigate himself up the stairs like an old man with a cane. Quinn began to breathe heavily noticing her angry side was beginning to show through again, her violence making itself known.

Crawling to the kitchen in defeat Quinn weakly sat upon the stool noticing a small layout of food had been left there.

As Quinn began to peck at the chicken she noticed a small note sitting up beside the cutlery. Skimming her fingers over the piece of paper she carefully opened it.

Her heart skipped at the one word that had made her feel mass amounts of guilt and sorrow.

Sorry.

Quinn finished her meal swiftly with one thought in her head.

As she cleaned her dirty dishes she thought through what Nik could have been feeling. Obviously he is protective of her, he has proved that on more than one occasions so Quinn figured he probably feared for her safety because of her disappearance. And maybe with this news about being married can work out, I mean everybody would obviously know she’s not a slut and doesn’t aspire to be. Washing off her hands Quinn glided up the steps pausing at the edge of the staircase, Quinn has two options: one she can turn left and go to her room sleep soundly yet she will wallow in guilt, or two she can go to Nik’s room and apologise return to her room and sleep better…

Turning right she lets her feet pad down the hallway nervously before sliding in front of Nik’s door, knocking awkwardly she could hear his movements as bed sheets rustled before a small light was illuminated just at the inches of her toes through the small gap of the door.

Letting out a fearful breath, the door handle turned. Nik opened up fully knowing it was just Quinn he wore his bare chest and black boxers staring down at her with half dozed eyes.

“I apologise,” Quinn blurted before mustering her strength into something more appropriate, “I mean I apologise for what I did, I shouldn’t have taken off and removed the chip knowing it would worry you, but it’s just difficult for me to take in what you did,” I brush out.

“I mean I didn’t think you’d actually change my last name and make us look like we were married,” I mumbled, a small smile pulled at Nik’s mouth as he opened his eyes fully.
