Chapter 21

"Mrs Dellator? Hello my name is Nurse Hillary," I cringed away as light broke my eyelids, the grit caved along my eyelashes, wiping the muck away I slowly let my eyes open.

"Yes?" I answer back while trying to remain calm, where am I? Where's Nik?

"You're safe, just rest and don't try to move, your body is drained and you need fluids so I'm bringing a glass of water to your lips don't fight me off." the soft nurse's voice breeched Quinn's ear, as much as she didn't want to panic she would take what is given to her then panic.

Opening my eyes I am surrounded by shelves stacked with medical supplies, did Nik bring me to the doctor and why'd he leave me here with a stranger?

But cold wetness hit my tongue and I didn't resist as I took in the cool refreshment, "There we go," someone cooed from beside me.

"Where's my husband?" I croaked as I look down at the petite nurse with guarded eyes.

"He is doing something very important and he will be back rest assured," she smiled but I saw that it hadn't reached her eyes.

"I need him, where is he?" my heart beat rapidly, the sound of a monitor whizzed off the charts.

"That is not for me to tell, are you still thirsty, hungry perhaps?" she avoided the answer so I decided I'd get it later.

"Yes, very hungry actually," I put a hand on my stomach as I smiled thinking about Nik, our baby...

The nurse looked up at me in surprise, "You're pregnant!" she blurted loudly, I simply nodded.

"So that explains it," I look at her confusedly, explains what?

She saw my face and instantly came up with something, "Nothing it's just-" she cut herself off from continuing, this is the sort of behaviour reminded me of Nik when we first met so I decided to let it go, I'll get my answers later, right now I'm hungry. "Would you like dinner with desert or each separate?" is she kidding me? I'm pregnant; I'd eat her if I were allowed too.

"Do you have a cafeteria I can choose from? I prefer to pick rather than be handed something I don't end up eating, it feels rather, ill-mannered of me."

"We do, it's, and umm...I'm not sure you can stand, I can bring you a menu,"

My eyes narrow, lies. "No I'd rather walk, I feel lightheaded if I stay in bed for large amounts of time," I kept my head up showing her that I'm more than what I seem. Getting off the bed I find I'm in a hospital gown.

"Where am I?" I groan grabbing the clothes from the bedside table draw.

"Headquarters," the nurse spoke softly as if what she was saying would upset me.

"Headquarters? Where?" I urge shoving my hands into a shirt; the walls were grey and looked like pure silver.

"England," I gasp.

"England? I can't be, I'm from New Zealand...where is my husband?" I struggled to get the track pants on as a pain in my neck developed into a full-fledged throb.

"Calm down, you're causing yourself more damage the sedative hasn't fully worn off. Mrs Dellator, please just rest," I agreed before leaning on the side of the bed calming my breathing. "What the fuck am I doing in England?" I growled; Nik is so dead.

Defeat, and absolute terror finally confided in my head. "You should really eat something," I nodded as I walked out from behind her.

We entered a cafeteria, I saw plenty of young men as they ate and laughed but once I stepped through the door it all stopped, the nurse helped me to the counter and grabbed me a tray as she directed me to the food.
