Chapter 30
"What are you doing here?"
"Quinn we have to go, no time for explanations...hop to it," he urged pulling me along as I grabbed my round belly a cramp hitting my gut.
"I'm afraid, hopping is not going to happen today..." I said following rather slowly.
"Ahh yes, I see, you definitely hopped to it..." it felt strange to see one of my favourite teachers standing in front of me in a body suit guns strapped to his side.
Without further questioning-and fear pumping in my veins-I followed after him as we moved past the silent yet rusty walls.
"Will you at least tell me what you are?" because I wouldn't bet on him being a clueless husband/teacher standing before me.
He gulped and looked left and right before pulling me over to another corridor, "Let's just say...Nicholas isn't the only one with secrets," my eyebrows furrowed.
"So you're an assassin?" I watched as somebody dressed in absolute black bustled through the shadows lunging towards him with his fist-armed blood smeared over his jaw as he yelled multiple profanities in Hungarian. I could tell that Mr Temple hadn't completed the job and was now helping me through a trench full of bodies that may or may not be dead.
Mr Temple took all the hits before bring his arm back and to the guy's throat knocking him out, but not completely killing him.
Mr Temple turned to me, "No, I am not as cool," cool? He just knocked somebody out with one hit, coolest thing I have done is made Nik fall face first into cow shit!
"Wait, how come you're here?" I tried to bring myself to the beginning.
"To save the girl who has pitied me for my wife's cheating ways but never worked up the courage to tell me," he winked while my jaw dropped in utter amazement; he knew that I knew!
"I'm sorry," I mumbled.
"It's okay Quinn, you don't realize how valuable you are." I hobbled after him thanks to my wobbly stomach Mr Temple is pretty much waiting three to four minutes for me to get ten metres, it's like I'm giving birth to a full grown person!
As I stare at him I realize there is something more at play, that there is something I am missing out on, vital information, information that could quite possibly be the solution to the million question running amok in my overwhelmed mind.
"Right now, I'm holding you back so I'm pretty much as useful as a bug splattered on the windowsill of a Mercedes Benz," I think out loud tossed between shocks of seeing a face I hadn't seen since the end of graduation.
"Don't be too hard on yourself, I'm sure you're in more pain than a splattered bug," but a splattered bug is dead?
Shaking my head suddenly I hear yelling behind me just in time to turn my head and a bullet ring straight past me, thankfully Mr Temple was prepared and yanked my arm back just as I let out a ear splitting scream.
"HOLY NUTELLA ON WHEAT TOAST!" I yelled at the top of my lungs as Mr Temple crowded me against the wall drawing his weapon out to shoot at the asshole that just missed my face with his own set of bullets.
"Stay!" he commanded as I wrapped my arms around my middle protectively nodding as fear began to make my bones jitter in awareness for my imminent death. Three days ago I would not have seen this coming, in fact. I was expecting to be torn to pieces at the rate Tweddle Dumb and Tweddle Dee had me threatened.
Suddenly realizing I was listening to his order I had to let a giggle escape my lips, does it look like I can move, I'll just look like some idiot sitting in a fetus position groaning: "Give me ten minutes, I can do it!" while I curl upwards with my hands and legs outstretched, an image of a turtle lying back on its shell came to mind.
