Chapter 22
I hyperventilate; I wasn't expecting that as I collapse in the chair by the wall opposite me, narrowly missing the corner of the table. Hillary rushes to aid me.
Helping me up I groan.
"An Assassin! Oh he's going to enjoy watching me kill him," I growled earning a laugh from the captain.
"That boy can really pik'm," Oh he picked more than a salad, I can tell you that!
I glare, "If he is hiding, reveal him please, I'm pregnant and frankly all my body wants to do is curl up and lick a juicy, salty piece of steak, so if you please, just hand him over or I'm having human steak tonight," the captain's intimidating form looms as he stood facing me and grabbed something off his desk and pressed a few buttons before a white screen zoomed down over our foreheads and a direct gaze.
"We are not hiding him, in fact he's quite possibly trying to find his way back to you, Quinn," I purse my lips, no matter. He can find his way to the hospital while they try to retract my foot from his ass.
I cock my hip while leaning off to the side watching as the projector screen starts up making a whizzing noise before the large desktop window makes it show.
Navigating himself to some sort of high tech window he double clicked.
Before my eyes a million faces jumped out, each had a name, I.D tag, age and nationality.
The Captain went through multiple pages before Nik's appeared. I stammered lightly, out of his flip-flops and casual smile stood a strong and fearsome Nik as he posed like something out of a military poster. Even with a uniform and Quinn didn't know whether she should be frightened of her husband's scary forlorn look or horny for how good a uniform looks on his body...
He seemed younger though, his yellow eyes looked brighter and a little less demanding as they were now, black hair a little shorter than usual he had been a little shaggier when she met him and he still has stubble on the edge of his jaw.
His pink lips were pursed and showed his determination and his pride. Quinn had to admire her husband in the picture, but she didn't realize how much she had missed out, she thought she could accept him without a voice and little thoughts of him being a serial killer had never crossed her mind until now she just thought he was someone she could trust from day one...even when she saw him tie himself to a rock and nearly drown!
She had freely given herself to a man who had been clearly lying to her, what if he never told her? Would she just casually let their lives continue as if nothing had happened? Quinn has never felt as nauseated as she did in that moment.
The captain interrupted her disgusted thoughts that she had for herself; she sure as hell won't let Nik continue as anything more than a stranger if she won't know anything about him.
"This here Quinn is your husband," he pointed to a man who looked a lot more intimidating than the man I had been living with for more than a year.
"Oh I could tell," I said my hand threatening to take out a punch on the pretty screen. But it looked like a million dollars so I opted against it.
"What do you want to know?" finally! I can get some answers.
"First of all, where is he?" I demanded pointing at his picture; he is probably fifteen or sixteen in this image.
"I actually have no idea? It's a first, I assumed he'd be in Burma cleaning up a mission he had there but it turns out he's already finished. He's certainly getting the job done, and fast," Now that I think about it, a lot of things about Nik can be explained for the general idea that he actually is an assassin, this could explain why he is so quick with his reflexes, and his strength. Well there we go Quinn, those things explained, now I have to find out about his spy-agent life.
