Chapter 14

We had sex without protection.

Quinn clutched her head in anger, not for Nik, but for herself. She doesn't regret what she had done but she realizes that they should have discussed protection before even touching each other; she was just so caught in the moment, the pleasure and the fantasy.

God this is the second worst choice in the history of Quinn's life, man I wish I was an alcoholic, at least I'll have something to do instead of wondering if I am in fact nursing a baby into this world.

Nik came padding down the stairs lazily he looked satisfied with yesterdays actions that he had missed the tendril of stress rolling off Quinn before he had finally gotten his fill of her sitting on the couch wrapping her knees tightly to her body.

He kneeled in front of her wanting to know her distress and she wanted to tell him gladly.

"I need a pregnancy test," she whispered, she can't be pregnant. She doesn't have the money or the experience to raise a child and it only served as a reminder for his actions when Maxwell was alive.

Nik looked at her warily, "What if I'm pregnant Nik? The responsibility," I sobbed. "I'm not ready,"

He brought her into his arms nodding carefully, she kissed his warm chest, and "We should go, I need to know like right now," what I was really asking was whether I had to find another place to live. Nik would totally kick me out, I'd be trapping him to a child he probably won't want. Living on the street is a huge no, no child of mine will live on the street.

He pulled her chin up letting his yellow eyes stare vividly into Quinn's shaking face; he kissed her. The kiss was sweet but it told her that he was here and he's not going to leave anytime soon.

"Oh, we have school," he nodded in agreement, she sighs with anxiety, "I guess I can wait for six hours," he nodded as well holding her close kissing the skin on her cheek tenderly.

Nik had brought their school uniform and he had taken the liberty to dress Quinn since she was sick with worry. He tried to reassure Quinn but she couldn't sort comfort from the very man that would leave her once she got the results for that test back. He kissed her repeatedly as they arrived in the parking lot, but she couldn't bring herself to respond. "What if he looks like a Maxwell? I can't handle seeing him again, it would be too much Nik," I spoke as if I knew I had a child inside me.

Nik kissed my lips trying to give me reassurance, "Would you leave me?" and then I sprang the question that terrified me the most.

Nik looked somewhat appalled as he pulled me over the gear shift placing me on his lap a little rough but I could tell that the topic had turned very serious and he was being controlling in this situation, I wasn't prepared for the anger I saw there, he shook his head like it had a permanent turn before he covered his lips with mine, this kiss was violent and demanding it told me that I was being ridiculous, Nik won't leave.

But why would he stay?

I pull back, "Thanks Nik, I guess that would help me through the day," he growled like a dog pulling me back as he gentled the kiss this time around.

He placed his hands on the side of my face as he forced me to read the unspoken message.

'I'm never leaving you Quinn...' I smile pecking his soft lips.

"Thanks," I murmured. Jumping off his lap and onto the ground Nik grabbed my hand and our bags as he reluctantly followed.

He followed me with his schedule and I watched as people began to follow behind us dropping subtle hints about the reasons behind our marriage.
