Death, Destruction, And Trees?

Warmness floods my system, and I move more into the warm pillow. I didn't want to move from this spot, I was too comfy to want to move an inch. My eyelids flutter open, and I realize that I was up against Icel's underbelly, with his wing wrapped around me like a cocoon. I was alarmed, and almost thought about moving, but I didn't want to wake him up. He looked peaceful as he was. I hear puffs of air as he breaths, and at the moment I was content to just lay there and screw my responsibilities in this world.

And then the moment ended.

Rina enters into the clearing, and as loud as she can muster she states, "Rise and shine, beauties."

Icel, startled, turns back into his human form.

And realizes I'm laying right beside him.

His face showed surprise, and annoyance. But it was so quick I thought I might have imagined it.

He quickly gets up, faster than I knew was humanly possible.

Still dazed, I rub my eyes. Then, using my elbows, I got up out of the moist dirt. At that moment, the temperature drops.

Without surprise, Rina states, "Feeding time. We need to get moving."

Feeding time? She must not be talking about us. Then I realized, I haven't been hungry. At all. That surprised me more than I thought it would. What exactly is going on? Why are we moving so fast? It must have been the "dangers" they were talking about. I didn't know anything more terrifying than the caves. What the hell. I'm tired of not getting any answers. I'm just going to be upfront and ask them about it.

"Can somebody please explain to me where we are going, and why we are moving so damn fast? And what is "feeding time"?"

Rina huffs, clearly annoyed.

Well, this has to do with my life and I don't want to be in the dark about it anymore.

"Feeding time is basically natural selection, but the ones who die are eaten by the queen. She created "feeding time" so that she can gain the energy from them. And by doing so, taking back her powers that she so willingly gave away just to take back. She loves torturing anyone and anything. I'm surprised that she still has her royal subjects. Actually, maybe not, because they are so terrified of her that they will be whoever she wants them to be, or do whatever she wants them to do."

"And. In answer to your other questions, we are going to the carnivorous forests."

That doesn't sound good. Definition of carnivore is flesh eating creatures. Whatever this place is must not be good.

"We are going there because we need to meet up with an old friend. That friend will help us in defeating the queen. But, the carnivorous forests are very dangerous and deceiving. Don't believe anything you see. Stick with us, and you should be fine. For that, Icel will be changing forms, we won't survive if he doesn't."

Fun, fun.

Death and destruction. Two of my favorite things.

"It will take us a couple days to get there though, possibly many dangers along the way. Just...be careful. And just like Rina said, stick with us and you should be fine. And we train in the morning, our next stop should be safe enough to do a little sparring."

Oh shoot. I'm dead. I haven't had much training. Why do I have a feeling he is going to kick my ass?

As the path grew thinner, the trees looming over us looked more and more like it was going to murder me. Nothing wasn't possible in this world. And the forest kept gradually getting darker. And to add ontop of that, the air kept getting cooler.

As the dirt kept getting moister, it squished up between my toes as I walked.

My body started to move, my teeth chattering.

What if I don't survive? And get eaten by the queen? Dying of hypothermia was definetely not on my Christmas list of ways to die.

That's when we heard it.

A snap of a tree branch on the forest floor.

We froze, as if I wasn't frozen enough. Icel poofed into a dragon, and listened with his enhanced ears. In less than a second, he went back to his human form. Out of breath, he says, "it's the trees. Run on my count." He looks in the direction of the noise, then after a moment or two, he says, "Run."

Our feet pound the ground as we run, as fast as we can go without running head first into trees ahead of us. Behind us, I hear something almost like a snake in a pile of leaves.

I start to try to look back, but Icel says beside me with worried eyes, "Don't look back."

Without heeding his warning, I look back.

Everyone just loves a dramatic ending! Make sure to comment if you think you know what it is. Hehehe, its really unlikely. But in a fantasy world, anything is possible.
