Chapter 11- The Truth Always Comes Above
Zayn's Point of View.
"Mom do we really have to do this every year?" I ask my mom who is making some of her delicious snacks.
"Yes we do. They have still a hole in their hearts from that day and they will be happy." She says as she walks busy in the kitchen from one side to the other carrying some cupcakes.
"Fine. Lauren is coming as well right?"
"Of course she is. I mean you guys are dating, right?"
"About that. No."
"No what?"
"No we aren't dating."
She just gave me the look. The look saying are-you-serious.
"I haven't asked her yet." I admit.
"Why not? You like her don't you?"
"I do. A lot. She just never had a boyfriend yet and she never even talked to someone before me. She has trust issues and when I ask her, I want her to fully trust me." I reason. "I just don't know if she likes me back. What if she is just with me because she lives under our roof? Or just for my protection? What if she likes someone else? It would be so awkward because I don't want to let go of her. She can't go back to that man." I started rushing and panicking forgetting that my mom was with me in the room.
This was the most private conversation I had with my mom. Ever.
I never talked about my girlfriend and I didn't even take them to my house nor did they meet my mom.
"Don't say that. She probably does like you. I see the way she looks at you and she cares a lot about you, in a way that she could only do when she likes you." I felt my mothers hand on my shoulder and I looked up seeing her eyes with a mix of honesty and pride.
"Thank you." I say being relieved. I let out a sigh and calm myself down.
"Doniya had a dress that would fit Lauren perfectly. She never wore it since she bought many more after she bought that one. It is in the basement in one of the boxes." She says with a smile and squeezing my shoulder a little. I give her a smile thanking her again and leave the kitchen to find the dress.
....
"Lauren are you ready?" I ask.
I found the dress after looking through many, many boxes. I lost the count. It was a nice dress and the colour would look amazing on Lauren. It isn't too fancy nor is it regular. It is perfect for the small get together with the neighbours. My mom and Clara are the closest friends ever since we both moved here, the same day.
"Okay. I'm ready." She says finally revealing herself in front of me.
The dress hugged her body perfectly. Her curves were in one word, Flawless. Her eyes matched the dress and her hair was straightened and fell down perfectly over her shoulders. She had a little make-up, since Doniya taught her how to apply them on her. She is a quick learner by the way, that is one of the thing I like about her. She was wearing black heels and her length was almost as high as mine.
"You look perfect." I admit and she started blushing. The red on her cheeks from the three words I said made me smile.
I made her blush.
"Thank you." She said shy.
"Come on we have to go." I said giving her my hand and she took it without hesitating.
...
Lauren's POV.
"I'm nervous." I admit.
