Chapter 18- Love Advice.
Lauren's POV
Days have passed by and I am glad everything is going in the good way. Zayn's operation went well and he is leaving the hospital later today for christmas tomorrow. I moved in with my actual family and I am liberated from John. Living in fear from him for as long as I remember made me shut down the world and the promise that Katie made me do build up forts around me and I blocked everyone out at a young age. Right now, I don't have to do that anymore. I can be the real me without fears and just live life like a normal teenager would do. I don't have to hide myself anymore behind a promise.
"Lauren!" My mom shouts.
Yes my mom a.k.a. Clara Jauregui.
"I'm coming." I shout back at her from my room. I place my laptop, that I got as a welcome gift, on my bed and shove the blankets off of me. I put my hair in a ponytail and walk out of my room and down the stairs.
"I'm here." I announced as I took a seat on the kitchen chair across from Clara.
"Good. It's story time." She says with a smile.
"Years ago, when I was fifteen years old, my mom and I made up a tradition. Well not really made up, but when she was fifteen too she used to do it with my grandmother so I decided to do it with you too and when Taylor turns fifteen as well." She explains. I nod my head with a smile as she rambles thinking that I was confused.
"Okay go on." I tell her with a chuckle escaping my lips as she goes on.
"My mother told me that I was old enough to help her with christmas food. Since you're seventeen now, you're old enough and I would be happy if you wanted to help me keep it a tradition in the family."
"I'd love to help. What can I make." I ask her enthusiast.
Yes I was enthusiast. I liked to help people and especially I liked food. I didn't eat many things after my passed away since my dad had no work or money so I sticked to the basic things with the money I earned by singing in the mall. The past days Clara made amazing and delicious food and so did Patricia when I stayed with her. And I decided that food was one of the things that made life amazing. And that I missed out big time.
"Really?" She asks surprised.
"Yeah. I'd love to learn how to make those delicious cookies or cakes. So what are we gonna make first?" I ask her.
..
"It tastes amazing." I say as the food I made makes contact with my palate. I moan at the taste of sweet the cake.
"Good. Patricia and the others are coming over tomorrow and I want them to taste it." She says with a smile as takes a bite herself. "This tastes better than how it normally does." She compliments as she takes another bite to find out what I did.
"What did you put in it?" She asks me.
"Well almost everything you told me and a little more." I admit.
"Please tell me, it tastes seriously good." She says finishing it.
"Well..." I say turning around and picking up the Nutella jar.
"You see. You told me that I had to put all the chocolate powder in it, but only like 1/4 was left inside of it. So I put some Nutella in it to replace the 3/4. The Nutella gave the different taste to it I guess." I say.
"Lauren." My mom says serious. "You did amazing with it, and since it is the first thing you made and it is christmas tomorrow. What do you think of making this recipe a family secret?" She says with a questioning look.
