By the time Peri had woken up, it was around 12 in the afternoon. Groggly she got up and looked around. She stumbled out of bed and looked for her phone, which was on the charger near her dresser. Confused she walked to it, seeing a few messages from Pearl. "So she came over huh.. I guess I fell asleep.." Peri sighed softly and walked to her window, opening it and squinting at the bright light that came though. She out her hand against the warm glass, which was followed by her forehead. The sun shine brightly over the little view she had. The glare of cars shooting by on the street. The wind flowing through trees like water, taking a few leaves as it went. Her green eyes followed the steps of people walking through a park not to far from her area. Behind her her phone rang, catching her a bit off guard. Peri reached behind her, feeling out for it until she found it and answered, eyes still locked to the scenery.
"Hello?"
"Peri! Where are you?"
It was Pearl. " Home."
"Did you wake up late or something? Why aren't you here? We've been worri-"
" Pearl.."
"Ah.. yes?"
"Have you ever just looked out the window, and see all the beauty there is in the world, all the warmth and love?" Peri asked slowly. There was a slight pause before Pearl answered.
"Why yes Peridot, I have... Why?" Peri could tell that Pearl was increasingly getting more and more worried.
"Because That's what I'm doing right now. And I hate seeing this because I want to die so badly, yet I am afraid to take myself away from this, from you, from everyone. I look at this and I feel like... Like things could get better for me. But then that voice tells me otherwise. Pearl.. I don't want to live anymore. Help me..." Peri could hear what sounded like Sobbing on the other side. She waited, calmly staring out the window. Soon Peri could hear Amyethst and Garnet's voice, and then pearls as she explained what they were talking about. " Give me the phone Pearl." Was the next thing Peri heard, as Garnet began to speak. "We're coming over. You better still be there when we get there." Peri sighed as the phone was hung up. She put her phone in her pocket and walked to her door, unlocking and opening it.
"Please save me..." She whispered to herself as she walked to her balcony. She opened it, and sat on top on the railing. There was barely any wind now, but what wind there was, blew through her hair. She closed her eyes and started to hum her favorite song. Moving her legs rhythmicly as she hummed and sang.'What is this sinking feeling in my stomach..?' Thought someone walking down the street. Every so often she would look up from her phone, concerned and wondering what what going on. Her phone beeped, and she looked down to see a notification from Gembook. "Lapis Lazuli, you were tagged in a post with 400+ people?" She raised an eyebrow and tapped on it, looking at the caption above a picture.
"To those who know this girl, please, if anyone of you is near the her apartments down by Beach city park, I beg of you to help... her..? She's about.. oh my God!" Lapis scrolled down to the picture, seeing a photo of Peridot with Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst. "This is why I have that feeling..!" She read more of it, finding her apartment number. She was already near her, since today she had decided to skip and walk through the park. She started running, looking frantically for a apartment building. She tried her best to be as fast as she could, ignoring the looks of other people and driver's. It wasn't long before she could see a sign and a leasing building. She bent over, breathing heavily. Lapis looked around, trying to see signs of anyone else being here already, she checked the status, making sure it was the correct apartments. She strained to hear if there might have been any yelling or commotion to help her pinpoint where she was at. She looked up searching for something, anything to help. Lapis's eyes skipped right over Peri as she looked. Lapis continued scanning until it hit her that someone was outside. She found her again, and stared in horror, as she saw that she was on what seemed like the third floor sitting over the railing, swinging her legs back and forth.
"P-Peri..!!" Lapis shouted as she forced her body to move and run towards the entrance. She dodged a few people exiting the building, hearing but not caring about what they said as she speed past. She found the stairs and ran up the flights, tripping ever so often and cursing. Once she was to the third flight she flew past all the door, looking for 317. She made it halfway down the hallway by the time that she came up on the open door. She ran inside and stopped looking at the balcony as Peri raised herself up slowly and stood. Lapis ran towards her, not screaming in a attempt to grab her and pull her back. She reached her hand out just as Peri began to tip forward.
