Peri looked down, astonished at what she had just heard. Lapis, someone she had only just met days before, said she loved her. And sounded like she meant every word of it. Every vowel. Peri could let her tears go any faster after hearing that. She was so gone in bliss and slight misery from knowing that she had caused this. Although she liked knowing Lapis loved her, she wished she had been able to say it under different circumstances. She did nothing but hold Lapis and cry with her. Peri felt as if there wasn't much else she could do about it at this point in time. She felt so many emotions, and felt like she could fell Lapis's as well. A mixture of happiness and sadness. Peri could could feel their hearts beating. But the more she listened, she noticed that Lapis's heart was beating alot faster than it should have been.
" Lapis.. Lapis your heart rate.. It's beating so fast, whats going on? Are you... scared?" Peri asked, confused and trying to think through the mess they were in. Lapis pulled back and shot upwards, a look of clear anger in her face.
" What the fuck do you mean am I scared?! My fucking girlfriend is suicidal and there's nothing I feel like I can do about that! Like I get that I can help change that, but what about the future? What if we break up?! What happens if you or me become nothing more than history!? How could something like the future be so exciting but so god damn terrifying?! Urgghhh!" Lapis screamed, scaring Peridot and making her duck, shaking behind her small arms. Lapis noticed it right away and stopped.
" Oh god Peri, I'm so sorry. I just don't always handle these things the best way. I... I don't even know what to do anymore.. Or how to fix this, or at least to begin to." She wiped at her eyes, waiting for Peridot to come out on her own. She sighed and looked around the room, thinking.
" Maybe this will help us right now. I know that your eyes are closed.. so could you please try and calm down, and think of a place you have been to, or a place that makes you feel a least somewhat ok?" Lapis asked, keeping her voice level, and slow. Lapis grabbed her phone and set it between them, and opened Fusetube. She looked up a long playlist of Lo-fi instrumentals that had a somber tone to it and played it, keeping it loud enough to hear, but not to distract. She saw that Peri had loosened up, and was going to listen. She did the same, closing her eyes and breathing in deeply. She did her best to clear her mind, and when she got decently close to it, she began to paint the picture of a place in her mind. It started with a blank world. Slowly, multiple faded lines begin to form a tree, waves of an ocean, and a hill side. Under the tree seemed to have sat some figure, unmoving. The lines seemed to grow darker as the retraced themselves, and begin putting details into the scenery. The tree now looking as if it had grown bark, with small knots and holes. The oceans waves seemed more defined and reflective. The hillside now having grass swaying back and forth gently in the wind. The figure now showing curves and adorned a white dress, and her hair also blowing against the wind. The figured moved fro the tree, and walked the hillside, each step releasing colorful hues of green. It spread across the land, splotches of yellow one could guess would have been the suns gleam on the grass decorating the ground as well. The figured walked near the ocean and lightly dipped one finger in as she bent down. A beautiful splash of blue covered the bouncing waves, making them glitter and sparkle. The gentle sound as the waved danced with each other, and the sea mist that hit the girls face lightly was a sight to behold. Soon the girl stood and walked back to the tree, touching that lastly. The different shades of brown ran up the trunk and through out the branches, all eventually turning to pink for the cherry blossoms that rested up every branch. The wind passed by again, taking some of the blossoms with it as well. The girl looked around at her new world of color and sat back down, laying in the grass. A smile began to form, breaking across her face and becoming full of color. Her rosy cheeks filling out and the tan colored skin, Her hat becoming blue and un kempt in a weirdly nice display on her head. There was nothing except the song of the ocean and the leaves of the cherry blossoms flying away. This peace felt like it would last forever. Nothing to worry about, no times to remember or anything. Lapis slowly opened her eyes and saw that Peri's hands were in hers. Peri seemed to still be trying to find a place that made her calm. Lapis have her hand a small squeeze, and held them. Closing her eyes again, and tried to revisit her place that she had painted in her minds eye.
