~Chapter 25~

Everything was moving slow for Lapis. She saw Peri rush to her defense and punch Malachite in the stomach, She saw the way he looked at her. That sickening grin he always had drawn across his face when he was about to do something terrible. In horror she watched as he raised his hand, and struck Peridot across the face.  Her small frame taking all the force of it, being knocked back, and her glasses flying off somewhere. Lapis couldn't even scream, watching as he was about to pummel Peridot. Lapis fell backwards, tears falling from her face. She looked around and couldn't find anyone, all of the other students still sitting in class. 

"I've got to try and text someone.. anyone to come and help her!" Lapis thought to herself, scrambling for her phone. Once she found it she picked it up, then froze, catching a death glare from Malachite. He was standing over Peridot who was bleeding from her nose, and still recovering from the first hit. " No, p-please don't.. I'll go with you.. is that what you want? please just leave her alone and we can go!" Lapis pleaded, causing them both to look up at her.

" Lapis.. n-no.." Peri let out weakly, turning on her side to face her better. " You don't.. need hi- aghhhh!" she was quieted by Malachite who had stood all the way back up, and kicked her.

" You'll come back to me will ya? Just leave her here and go back to your old life mm..? The good ol power couple back at it yet again."

" Yes.. yes I will, you have to promise me not to ever touch her again though. Promise me that."

" As little as it means heh.. you have my word that I won't." He said, sneering and looking at Peri, who was already crying abit, but now looking like she would completely breakdown. Peri sighed, standing up and turning away from Lapis. Lapis reached out a hand but pulled it back. Malachite smirked and leaned in close to Peri's face, who was currently looking down. 

" No.."

"Hmm, that was that ya little bitch?"

" I said no!" Peridot shouted looking into his, her vision blurry with all the tears and lack of her glasses.

" No? And what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Malachite laughed, getting a bit closer and balling up his hands again.

" It means you can't have her!" Peri said, fulling crying now, her face red and her eyes squeezed tight though her tears flowed freely. " I've gone through so much in such a short time! I know what it feels like to be wanted as a lover, how it feels to be cared about! How it feels to be scared to lose someone! And to know that that person feels the same way, and that it's not all just one sided! Fuck I even know how it feels to be submissive!" She shouted, shaking uncontrollably, her hands running through her messy hair, and the blonde from her nose starting to drip everywhere, including her shirt. " And there is no way.." Peridot looked at Malachite, who still had a smug grin on his face. " I'm going to let you just take the person who saved me! It's my turn now! So Lapis, you just sit there and watch! I'm going to be your hero this time."

Malachite bust out into laughter, holding his stomach and dancing around. " You think you're going to be able to do anything? Haha! You already tried remember?" Peridot said nothing, but instead leaned herself back onto one leg, and dropped her right arm till it was dangling. With all the power she could muster, and a quick careful calculation, she propelled herself forward, and made her hand into a fist, bringing it up as well. Her fist connected with his face, and just like Garnet had taught her, she followed through, stomping her left leg down, and bringing up the right. Her fist kept pushing and Malachite stumbled back a few steps and then fell, rolling into his back. She panted, standing back up and then decided to rush him while he was down. She jumped on him, slamming her fists down wherever she could, screaming out loudly in frustration and fear.

Garnet looked up, having been walking back to her class, and heard something that sounded like a scream. She stopped, walking towards a window and pressing her ear to it, listening. There was screaming, and for some reason it did sound familiar. But Garnet thought best not get involved, figuring it wasn't something she needed to investigate. Though she did stay behind, listening intently for a bit. It wasn't until she heard " Peridot, no!" That she put her phone in her pocket, her mind completely changing as she took off, looking for the source of all of the commotion.

" Oh you fucker!" Malachite yelled, pushing Peridot off after he had taken a few more hits, and coming back from being slightly dazed. " That actually fuckin' hurt. Seems you can hit hard, somewhat." He said, punching her stomach, knocking the wind out of her. Peridot coughed, and knelt over, trying to catch her breath.

" Damn it.. it's over for me now.." She thought, bracing herself as Malachite went in on her, aiming at her face and the rest of her fragile body. She fell down again, unable to stand. Malachite was the one to leap on her this time, grabbing Peridot by the neck and choking her. It was then that Lapis had finally been able to muster enough strength to get up and run over grabbing Malachites shoulders and trying to pull him off.

" You like that you little cunt! Huh?!" He yelled, a crazed look in his eye.

" L-lapis does it better.. Clod!" Peridot managed to choke out, before her eyes started to roll back. Lapis saw this and freaked, switching from pulling on him to aiming her fists at his head. She pleaded and begged for him to let go of her, but he beyond reasoning and she knew she wasn't strong enough to do anything alone. She looked up, calling for help, but it was already there. Garnet, who was running full speed at the group, and not looking to happy about it. It was the first time Lapis had seen her upset, and it scared the shit out of her. It only took a second more for her to figure out she needed to move out of the way. When she did Malachite looked up, about to question why, but was instantly stopped with Garnet's knee. He rolled back again, screaming in pain, and flailing around. She held Peridot, who had already passed out and beckoned for Lapis to get behind her as well.

" Now I don't know what is going on here, but I do not that you hurt my friends, and in doing that, you've really fucked up. You got this one time to walk away from this, or else I'm going to do what you did to Peridot, tenfold." Garnet said with an eeriely calm voice. Malachite looked up, and could see the anger in her eyes. He held his face, and stumbled getting up. He backed away, cursing them.

" You're lucky that fucking demon of a woman is there to protect your asses!" Was all they heard once he turned and painfully limped away.

" Now Lapis, I'm going to ask what happened, though I can already guess it."

" Well if you can guess than you know.. how is Peridot!? That's what we need to worry about!"
" She's passed out, but breathing, nothing is broken, and she'll be fine after she's cleaned up, it looks like alot of blood but she"ll be ok. Now tell me what happened."
Lapis sighed, looking over Peridots bruised and bloody body, and did her best to explain everything to Garnet while crying. It wasn't too long after that, that Pearl and Amethyst appeared, both in shock. She retold them the story, being completely honest in how she wasn't much help, until the end. Though Garnet understood, she told her that she should have tried harder to fight for what she wanted.

" Peridot will be pissed, that you were so quick to leave and protect her instead of standing along side and losing together. She will know that you only did it out of love, but that's how her mind works. Be prepared Lapis, things aren't going to be easy between you two over the next few days." Garnet warned, picking up Peridot, and heading to the infirmary. Pearl and Amethyst stayed behind, both placing a hand on Lapis.

" She's right, but.. I'm sure you"LL get through it together.. this isn't the first time Peridot has done something like this over someone she cares about." Pearl said, trying to be reassuring.

" True, but you're practically gonna have to suck her none existent dick if you want her to forgive you anytime soon"

" Amethyst!"

" What?! Am I wrong?" Lapis watched the two walk into the school, hoping to see some sign that Peridot might move or come to, but she didn't. She looked at the ground around them, seeing the blood, and broke down crying again. There wasn't anything that she felt she could say, and had a horrible thought running through her mind.

What if we break up?
