~Chapter 18~

Peri woke up bright and early, and looked around the room. She found her phone sitting on the charger near the window sill. She looked over at Lapis and smiled, thinking about yesterday. She quietly applauded herself for being able to be so dominant, and not freak out. She wanted to do something different today, not just the normal laze around the house or wander around town. So she decided to giver her mother a call. She got up as the dial tone rang, and went out to the balcony, she made sure to stay away from the railing, and sat down where her and Lapis first embraced. The phone rang for a bit before her mom picked up.

"Peridot.. do you know what time it is? What do you want my child..?" 

"Well.. I was hoping to borrow the car for alittle bit today, or maybe not just alittle bit."

"Do you have another one of those weird costume party things to go to?"

"No."

"Is is something to do with school."

"No."

"Hmm.. Are you going out with friends, and you want to drive since they always pick you up?"

"No, well.. not exactly.. its just one friend. My uh.. girlfriend." Peri waited for a response, but nothing came back except silence. Peri waited alittle longer, looking around at the sky then at her feet. " Um.. mom?"

" WHAT!!" Peri pulled the phone away from her ear, wincing at the loud yell. " My Peridot is dating someone! And not only that, but another girl at that!"Peri listened to her yell and frantically try to understand the news she had just heard. Peri rolled her eyes.

" Mom is it a yes or a no?"

" Oh! Yes, yes you can take the car, but I want to meet her. I need to make sure she is worthy of my litte gemling."

" Ugh mom, you know I hate being called that.. and obviously you would meet her, I was planning on bringing her with me when we came by to grab it. Hmm.. should we pack now, or grab the car and come back.. But that's alot of back tracking.. mgrgrgr.." Peri's thoughts were soon interrupted by her mothers weirdly demanding voice.

"I expect you to have a full list of what you are doing, and what you have done so far with this new girlfriend of yours. I want to know everything."

" Of course my glorious Diamond. Your wish is my command." Peri said with fake enthusiasm.

"And you know I hate being called that, Peridot." Peridot chuckled and gave her mom a estimated time that they would be there, and hung up. She decided to pack now and leave everything here, since where they would be going would back track towards her house anyway. Peri stood up and walked back to Lapis, who was sleepily flopping her hand around, probably looking for the other body in the bed. Peri giggled and sat next to her, and tapped her shoulder. Lapis turned over, a bit surprised and rubbed her eyes.  

"What are you doing up so early..? Lapis said, yawning afterwards.

" I have a trip planned for us, so we gotta pack, get dressed, and you gotta prepare to meet my mom, since that is where the car is." That last part woke Lapis up immediately. 

"Meet your... mom? Whoa what the hell? So soon? But its only been like.. I don't know, but isn't it to early for that? Oh my god, what is she doesn't approve? What is she doesn't like me and makes us break up? I-" Peri put her finger to Lapis's mouth.

"Shush. I don't care what she says or thinks. She will not come between us, even if she doesn't like you. And my mom is reasonable. She will see that I am happy, and it will be enough for her. I think. I hope." With that Peri got up and walked to the closet, pulling out luggage bags and tossing one one the bed at Lapis.
