Peri was too confused to realize that she had been saved. She could feel Amethyst and Garnet hugging and holding her. She could hear them talk and practically yelling in her ear. But she couldn't make out what the they were saying, nor did she want to. Her attention was on Lapis. She sat there, starting right back at Peri. Pearl fussed over a bunch of splinters in her arm, and Peri watched as she did what she could to get them out. 'Why was she here? I don't get it.' Peri thought to herself. She placed her hand over her heart, and noticed how fast it was beating. But that wasn't what bothered her, it was the feeling she was getting. For the strangest of reasons she didn't understand, she wanted to be next to Lapis. She wanted to hug her, be near her, kiss her even. Peri didn't like that she couldn't understand why she felt like this. She continued to stay at Lapis. She begin to take in her features. Just how smooth her skin looked, how soft a face she actually had, although it would twist with pain ever so often. Her blue halter top that she wore, and the black shorts she had decided to match with it. Her flip flops were torn from what Peri had assumed was because of running up to her. Peri looked down at her clothes, realizing that she had little on. She was wearing black spandex shorts, and a black sports bra. She remembered that she had most likely fallen asleep. She looked back at Lapis, and started to crawl forward, ignoring Garnet and Amethyst. She stopped a few inches away from Lapis, a confused look on her and Pearls face. Pearl was trying g to get Peri's attention, tapping her and calling out. Peri paid it no mind, as she continued to look into Lapis's eyes.
"What.. are you doing.. h-here?" Peri finally muttered. There was a long silence from everyone.
"I was saving you ass, that's what I'm doing here. What were you th-!" Lapis was cut mid sentence as Peri leaned in against her, pressing her cheek to hers. Pearl and Garnet gasped, and Amethyst stared wide eyed. Lapis looked to them, unsure of what to do. Garnet, recovering first, motioned for her to hug her. Lapis followed through, pulling Peri in slowly into a hug. It was then when Lapis noticed just how small she was. Peri did not object, or struggle, much to everyone else surprise. She laid there, blankly looking at nothing.
"What.. what is going on?" Pearl questioned, looking g a Garnet for an answer. Garnet thought, regaining her composer and thoughts, and wiped at her eyes.
"I honestly don't know. But if I had to guess, Peridot is in shock. And her underlying feelings may be taking control of her actions. I'm sorry Lapis, you may be stuck like that for a bit."
"So you mean to tell me that she randomly just laid against a girl that she has never spoken to!?" Pearl exclaimed, not understanding.
" Yes, I would think it's not to abnormal to be next to the one that your heart yearns for in a time like this." Garnet stated, her voice still abit shaky. "I honestly do not see her talking to us three for today, so we'll leave you with her for a bit. Here is my number.." Garnet went inside, standing with help from Pearl, and found paper and wrote her number down on the paper, handing it to Lapis.
"You wanna just leave her here with Peri? We don't even know her!" Amethyst shouted.
"And if not for her, Peri would be dead." Amethyst tried thinking of something to say back, but couldn't and kept quiet. "And look at them, why disturb that?" Garnet pointed to Lapis and Peri. Peri had sat up in a more comfortable position, and was resting her head on Lapis's chest. Lapis had her hand over Peri's waist, and the other lightly rubbing her cheek, at times moving up and through her hair. Lapis looked up, meeting everyone's gaze.
"I promise to look after her, and I'll call if I need help, of if she calls for any of you. I also have you all on GemBook, so it won't be hard to get ahold of at least one of you." Amethyst thought it over, and nodded, satisfied. Pearl agreed as well, bending down to hug Peri and her. " Thank you so much..er.. Lapis..?" Lapis nodded.
"Please keep us updated." And with that, they all left, closing the door behind them. Minutes later Lapis could hear car doors closing, the start of a engine, and the car driving away. She sat there still holding Peri.
"What was it that you were thinking.. maybe you'll tell me soon.." Lapis softly said, looking over Peri. She hadn't moved, nor taken her eyes off of what she was staring at. Lapis could feel her heart beat, which had slowed to its normal steady beat. She sighed and looked up at the stars, wondering what would come next, and when Peri would come to her senses.
