15 // Promises

You know what's the funny thing about promises?

They always get broken.

That's sad actually, that we can't stay true to our word and break a promise so easily.

The guy always promises the girl this big stuff and in the end someone breaks that promise.

So I say no promises.

Not the 'Promise me no promises.' That's also a promise.

I mean that they don't have to make promises like- I'll always keep you safe. Then the next day the girl ends up in the hospital because of the guy. She gets hurt, he tells her to stay away from him.

Boring.

Even happiness, you can't promise someone that, because it's a choice. You can do everything in your might to keep them happy, but in the end of the day... it's all up to them.

Rather say, "I want to keep you safe. Or I want you to be happy, that's your choice. But I cannot promise you that." He can't promise her something so big. Rather let him tell her that he try to keep her safe, happy and alive?

Then he says 'I'm doing this to protect you.' But the way he is protecting her is the stupidest way possible, he's only making matters worse.

So I say...

I try to stay true to my promises, but I can't predict the future. I wish for you to be the happiest person on the earth, and I want to be with you to experience it all.

Better?
