"I don't need this!" I protested flaring my arms up and signaling to the two boys behind me holding their weapons. Peter rolled his eyes and smirked at me.
"You can't protect yourself Melina" He stated patting my shoulder.
"Because of you! If you didn't take away my powers I could be my own prince charming right now" I nagged, shrugging his hand off. He sighed and turned away from me. I reached out my hand but pulled it back knowing how his temper can be like.
I walked back to the treehouse, right back where I started. As I laid down on my bed I could hear the sighs of the two lost boys. I stared at the papers that were overflowing on the bed and floor. How will I get my powers back?
Being honest, If I had my powers I would probably go back home. But it might be too late for me and my messy relationship. I groaned not knowing what to do. I'm caught in the middle and can't find my way out of this problem. Father would be disappointed.
I can't take it anymore. I exit the treehouse and tell the boys I'll be back and will only talk to Peter for a while. They seemed suspicious but maybe because of the fact that I seemed to be having a small freakout, they let me go. I speed walked to Peter's and kept repeating over and over what I was going to tell him.
I want to go home. I clenched my hands into fists hoping he wouldn't kill me when hearing this coming out of my mouth. Or maybe when I tell him what my real intentions in the first place where would get me killed.
I open the tent and walk in the empty room. I turned around relieved until I heard items clinging to each other. Surprised, I opened another curtain to see Peter in his kitchen. Crap. He looks up and I can tell he's mad just by the way he looked up.
"Hi" I whispered going up to see what he was making. An assortment of vegetables was piled on each other. He ignores me and chops up the vegetables with a little more aggression. I looked at the ceiling of the tent feeling my anxiety rise. Not again, not now.
"Can we talk?" I asked stopping the knife from continuing. I flinch when Peter moves causing the knife to almost cut me. His attitude doesn't change though. "Peter for crying out loud you can't just not talk to me" I scolded making him face me.
"What do you want? I told you already, I'm not going to give you your powers" Peter snapped crossing his arms and passing past me to his room.
"That's not why I'm here" I followed him and sat on his bed afraid my legs would give up on me. "Look I want to tell you something, but you can't get mad at me," I told him.
"So you're the reason why Rumplestiltskin is on this Island!" He yelled pointing his finger at me.
"No" Yes. I shook my head and finally came to a realization that this wasn't going to end well. "Actually nevermind. Forget it, Peter. It's late anyways" I gave him a small smile and headed out seeing the sun beginning to set.
I rub the palm of my hands across my eyes to calm myself down. Now I really want to go home.
My eyes aren't as teary anymore so I come out from behind the trees that I was hiding behind. Then I saw Noah sitting silently on a tree trunk watching the older boys mess around with Felix.
"Hey bud," I said wrapping an arm around his small frame. He stayed quiet and would occasionally laugh with the other kids.
"Let's go for a walk" I grabbed his tiny hand and lifted him up. He stared at back at him but walked back to my side. I guess we both are having a bad day.
The sun was soon overshadowed by the moon and the woods had become darker. I made sure Noah was in front of me and always was holding my hand. I would awkwardly shift here and there, but his safety was my first priority.
I hummed to keep him from being too rowdy and going ahead to the plain fields without me. The stars guided us to the end of the woods and into the entrance to the dull fields. I looked around for danger and when I saw none I finally let go of his hand.
The innocent child went prancing around the grass twirling and throwing himself around. I pulled up my hair into a ponytail and ran after him. When I caught him I saw that we far away from the woods and mostly in the center of the fields.
"Noah, one day would you like to come live with me?" I asked him out of nowhere. I sat him on the ground next to me.
"Where? Inside the treehouse" He answered jumping back up and walked around me.
"No, somewhere better. Somewhere where you can find new friends" I assured closing my eyes.
"You'll love it Noah" I ended. The grass rustled around me but I heard no response.
"Pan" Noah shouted running off to my right. Startled, I opened my eyes and didn't see Noah at all. I got up and circled around my spot. I squinted my eyes and saw two shadows far from me.
"Noah, where are you?" I shouted in the direction of the figures. I panicked more seeing the other figure take hold of the smaller one. I immediately sprinted to them hoping it wasn't Rumple, but Pan.
I quickly got hold of Noah and pushed him behind me. Although I was panting I told the person to back off. The man removed his hood and chuckled.
"I'm not going to hurt Noah," Peter said coming closer to us. I tensed feeling the awkward atmosphere between us. I exhale and allow Noah to continue playing. I make eye contact with Peter and give him another smile. He smiled back.
