"Eric!"

I stand on the top of my toes and wave my hand in the air in order to make him see me better. His head whips around and instantly a bright smile covers his face. He quickly makes his way through the crowded airport and reaches the spot where I am. The second he is near me I wrap my arms around him and give him one of the tightest hugs I could manage.

"You're cutting off my air circulation, lil sis."

I back away from him and gently shove him in the arm, "Does it look like I care? And I'm only younger by five minutes."

He shakes his head at me, his brown hair falling slightly over his eyes, "Not the slightest."

I grab one of his bags which he then takes back from me, saying something about how it would be unmanly of him if he did not carry all his bags. We make our way out of the airport and head towards my car. His skin looks a little tanner and his eyes look a little brighter. Something seems different about him but I can't put a finger on it. He seems to be smiling more which is weird since he just came back from visiting one of the most horrendous people in the world.

"What's up with you?" I ask while keeping my eyes on the road.

His cheeks blush and instantly I know that my assumptions are right, "What are you talking about?"

If I didn't know any better I would think that he seemed afraid all of a sudden. His voice seemed to shake and he has now resorted to playing with his hands which is an obvious give away that he is nervous.

"You go away for a month and all of a sudden you can't talk to me?" I question him.

I steal a quick glance at his face and watch as guilt takes over his expression. He should not have to be so worried about whatever it is that he is going to tell me. Obviously, even if it is really bad, I'll get over it. He's my brother, it's my job to love him.

"What? Did having to deal with dad for a whole month make you go silent? I mean I know he is a dick and all bu-"

"Shut up!"

I jump at his sudden outburst and give him a confused look. He looks angry and confused just like me. I turn the radio on and roll my eyes at his lack of response. The rest of the car ride was spent in awkward silence and even when we made it home he still continued to not talk to me. Clearly there is something stuck up his ass.

"Where's Aunt Kate?"

I grab the orange juice from the fridge and continue ignoring him like the immature person I am. After a minute of no response he walked over and grabbed the box of juice from me, "I shouldn't have yelled at you. I'm sorry."

My eyes narrow in response but when I look into his eyes that matched my own I finally gave in, "You're forgiven."

"Good. Now, where's Aunt Kate?"

"Where do you think?"

He groans and then walks over to sit down at the kitchen table, "How long did she say she'd be gone for?"

"One week. She left yesterday. Apparently it is a big deal for her to go because if she doesn't then the company can loose out on this big offer but she says that every time so I don't know," I tell him. I sit across from him at the table and begin eating some of the potato chips while playing a game on my phone.

I look up and find my brother staring at me, and by the looks in my eye it isn't good. I put my phone on the table and then sit up straighter, needing to be prepared for whatever it was that he was going to say.
