A/N: The last chapter was kind of late and bad and really angsty, so I came up with an idea. I decided to make it kind of a surprise for everyone, actually, so get ready for the next chapter. Also, sorry about the odd hour that I posted the last chapter.

"Dear god, John did he hurt you?! W-What happened? I'm so sorry I couldn't be there, the nurses wouldn't let me come out." Alex blurted frantically, pulling back from their hug. At the same time that it would've been better for John if Alex was there, they all knew that it was probably for the best that he stayed in bed. Not only was he in no shape to be out of bed, but they would've had to stop a homicide if Alex had come to help. He pushed his face back into John's abdomen, muttering apologies and promises. "P-Please, tell me what happened!" When Alexander didn't get a response, he looked up to see silent tears making their way down John's face. "John?" "S-Sorry..." John stuttered and looked down, realizing that he had been crying this whole time. He reached one of his arms up to wipe the tears away, wishing he could be stronger.

Yes, he'd been through these kinds of thing before, but that didn't make it any less traumatic for him. He also knew that this was his only chance to have anyone care about what had happened to him. It was comforting to know that his friends were here and willing to listen, and it would be nice if his family was too. John didn't really even know if he was comfortable with sharing his past with Francis, but they all deserved to know. They're basically his family after all. "I'm just having a bit of trouble, is all." He says, feeling another barrage of tears cascade down his face. "It is okay, John." Lafayette reassures him.

"We understand if you don't want to share right now, mon ami." John looks at him for a moment, receiving a small smile. "Yeah." He says quietly, going to take a seat near Alexander's hospital bed. He couldn't lift his gaze from the floor at this point, too afraid of embarrassing himself further. "Hey," Alex says, looking over at him, "it's alright." John smiles at him warmly. "Well," Lafayette speaks up and lifts himself from Hercules' grip, "I guess that I have something to tell all of you." Hercules looks over at him worriedly, hoping that it isn't too bad. "Thomas," he sighs out, "is my half-brother." Laf looks around the room for a moment, half expecting someone to yell in shock or disappointment.

He was about to speak up again when he heard Angelica curse, "Dammit!" And hand Eliza a five dollar bill, Eliza smirking in victory. Everyone else giggled at the suddenness of their interaction. "Y-You bet on that?" Lafayette asks in disbelief. "Yeah, you two look pretty coincidentally similar." Eliza giggles out. "T-Thomas always spoke about having problems with his little brother, but I never stopped to think that it might've been you he was talking about." A sudden frown was pasted over Lafayette's features as he averted his eyes over to Alexander. "That monster was your brother?" He asks in astonishment.

"Monster?!" Lafayette fumed for a moment before calming himself down quickly again. He promised that he wouldn't lose his composure, not now. "He can be a good person, you know?" Alex looked down at the hard mattress beneath him. "It sucks that he never was, huh." He sassed. "Hey, you're talking about him like he's dead or something!" "He's dead to me!" Alexander and John chorused. Lafayette sighed and looked away again, averting his attention outside of the window. He looked down on the police cars in the lot outside, watching them still struggle to get Francis into the back of the car.

"L-Look," Alex huffs, "I just can't believe that someone like that can be related to someone as nice as you!" "What exactly do you mean 'someone like that?' Thomas was a shitty person, I know, but it's not like he killed someone! He's not as bad as you're making him sound." Alex looked at Lafayette as if he had just shot him, but he didn't waver in the slightest. "Laf, you two didn't live in the same house did you?" "We did. I just normally came home late." "Uh huh. Did you notice how often I was there?" "Yeah, almost every night. You came to stay with him so often, so he obviously wasn't that horrible. I don't even see what any of this has to do with how much of a good person he was!"
