Imagine Damon giving up on his sanity because you passed away
Damon couldn't think or process the fact that you were gone. He couldn't grasp at the fact that he couldn't hold you, kiss you, comfort you. Well let's be honest he was a complete softy when it came to you but, everything went down hill after you sacrificed yourself to once again save Elena. After, all that Damon lost it there was no way to get you back. So, what happens when his last and only thing that kept him together vanishes. Damon flipped his switch since he didn't know how to cope he became a merciless cold hearted monster you only wished he never become of because you were His Sanity.
