"Help yourself," Stan offered as he gestured on all the food laid down in front of me. Mukhang hindi niya first time sa diner na 'to kasi alam na alam niya ang mga dapat na order-in.

I helped myself with some steak and french fries. Nagutom talaga ako sa haba ng byahe namin.

"We're forty minutes away from my rest house. Pinapaayos ko na ang kwarto natin so you can rest."

"Kwarto natin?" Nag-init ang dugo ko sa narinig.

"Yeah, my house there is a bachelor's resthouse so isa lang talaga ang bedroom. Maliban na lang kung gusto mong matulog sa maid's room. You're more than welcome to sleep beside my helper." Ngumisi pa ito.

Tiningnan niya ito ng masama. "Mas gusto kong matulog sa tabi ng helper mo kaysa sa tabi ng demonyong amo niya."

Napatawa ito sa sinabi niya. "I think my helper would beg to differ. According to her, I'm the kindest boss she ever had." 

"Wow, so pati yata helper mo, naging kabit mo na rin."

"Chill, babe. Hindi naman lahat kailangan mong pagselosan. My helper is Manang Judith. She's been with my family since I was a kid. Pero mas nagustuhan niya dito sa La Union kaya I decided to just let her stay in my resthouse as caretaker." He got some eggs and put it on her plate. "Now, eat. We're gonna do a lot of physical stuff together after this. You need some strength."

"What the fuck! I never knew na napakamanyak mo pala. If only I had known beforehand, matagal na talaga akong umurong sa kasal natin."

"But you didn't because you love me so much."

Nanlaki ang mga mata niya sa sinabi. "I don't! Wala akong sinabi sayo."

"Babe, you were basically smothering me with love everyday ever since our engagement got announced last year," tatawa-tawang kumento nito at sumubo ng bacon. 

"Bastos ka talaga!" sigaw muli niya.

He put some bacon on her plate. "Eat up. You'll need food for later." At kumindat ito.

"I WON'T HAVE SEX WITH YOU, YOU IDIOT!" she shouted in annoyance.

Lalo lang natawa ang binata sa inasal niya ng mapatingin sa kanila ang waiter at iba pang taong kumakain doon. 

"Honey, I was gonna teach you how to surf. Okay?" 

Namula ang pisngi niya dahil sa kahihiyan. Sinasadya talaga nitong inisin at ipahiya siya. Kaya naisipan na lang niyang manahimik all throughout. Nag-focus na lang siya sa pagkain. 

"Sunrise is beautiful in my resthouse. We need to get back to the road so we'll be there before 5am."

Hindi niya ito pinansin dahil nage-enjoy siya sa pancakes na kinakain. The strawberry sauce was amazing on it. 

"Add some maple sauce. Masarap and strawberry and maple combination," suhestyon nito at lalagyan na sana ng maple sauce ang pancake niya ng pigilan niya ito with her hands.

"Ayoko. Baka may lason 'yan."

"Bakit magkaka-lason 'to?"

"Kasi galing sa'yo!" And she glared hard at him.

"Fine," at ibinaba na nito ang maple sauce and just kept staring at her while she massacres her pancakes. 

At first, she didn't mind his stares. Mapapagod din ito. Pero napansin niyang hindi ito tumitigil sa kakatingin sa kanya. She grew uncomfortable.

"Stop staring at me!"

"I never knew you were this beautiful. I am such an ass," he whispered and got up from his seat to go out of the diner.

She was left staring at the door where he left. "Gago." Pinagpatuloy niya lang ang pagkain. Although kinilig siya sa sinabi nito, mabilis kaagad niya iyong pinalis dahil ayaw na niyang mahulog muli ang loob sa binata. "Maghintay ka sa kotseng hinayupak ka. Hindi pa ako tapos kumain," she whispered and continued enjoying her pancakes.
