when he decides not to be bad anymore"

"hey, i just met you, but this is crazyyyyyy, here's my number, so call me baby!"
i winced. lauren was currently stuck in the shower, singing her head off at some crappy tune. i had a feeling that she even got the lyrics wrong. no offence to lauren, but her voice was seriously causing my ears to bleed. i dangled my head down from her bed as i counted the scratch marks on her floor in boredom.
one. two. i glared at the bathroom door. she wasn't going to come out anytime soon.
i shoved some chips into my mouth. i watched as tendrils of my hair crept lower, curling around one another on the ground. a few more centimeters and my head would kiss the ground.
just as i was about to shove more chips down my throat, suddenly, i heard the front door creak open, before someone stumbled in, crashing into the ornaments at the front of the orlandos' house. i immediately froze. it was close to midnight now - lauren's parents were at a dinner reception, and johnny was staying over at his friend's house, so there was no one in the house except us two.
the first thought that occurred to me - it must be a burglar. that was the only reasonable excuse. i could hear the burglar's heavy footsteps resounding around the living room as he moved around, banging into things randomly. i wrinkled my nose. that was one noisy burglar. he was making such a racket and was obviously inexperienced.
but i still had to check it out. in my haste to get up, i totally forgot about the fact that my face was inches off the ground.
bang!
i yelped as i slid off lauren's bed, my head crashing into her floor, my cheeks pressing against the wooden tiles. ouch. thank god the burglar was loud, and his stumbling masked the sound of my fall. if he was an experienced one, i would have given myself away for being such a klutz. turning towards the bathroom where lauren was still singing her head off, i sighed. she was definitely of great help.
creeping down the stairs, i panicked as i nearly lost my footing. damn the lights. damn the burglar. i crouched down as i peeked through the holes of the stairs, a few chips fluttering down to the ground. slowly, i moved down, my heart thundering in my chest, threatening to escape from my ribs. goddamn the stupid burglar, we were only two young innocent girls for god's sake, couldn't he choose another house to target?
i peeked around the stairs, thinking of my favourite james bond movie and laughing silently in my hearty. if only maddie could see me now.
i looked up, prepared to see the robber ransacking around the house, but the tall shape only lumbered into the kitchen slowly. what was so valuable in the kitchen? the burglar must be an amateur. sighing, i looked around for a possible weapon, grinning as my eyes latched onto it. an air freshener - aunt melissa loved them, she places them all around the house. perfect. i chuckled maliciously in my heart as i twirled it around. if it can't blind him, at least it would stop him for a few minutes while i take the chance to knock him out.
paddling down the rest of the stairs quietly, my breath in short gasps, i stopped outside the kitchen. now or never. i squinted my eyes - the burglar didn't even switch on the lights.
i could barely make out the dark shape moving towards the cupboard and opening it, oblivious to my presence. was there some sort of treasure in that ordinary kitchen cupboard? my heart was thumping way too fast for its own good and my hands were shaking as i held the bottle of air freshener in my hands. curse lauren, she had to disappear when i needed her, and worse off, i couldn't even shout for her in case it alerts the burglar. gritting my teeth, i tiptoed towards the burglar.
just as i was nearing him, the lack of light caused me to completely forget about the hindrance in front of me - the kitchen island. i knocked against the side of the table, hitting my big toe painfully. to my horror, i was unable to control my mouth as i swore, immediately catching the attention of the burglar.
"who's there?" a deep voice slurred, sounding a little drunk but familiar at the same time. i swear i have heard the voice before, husky and deep. i scowled. i couldn't even make out who it was.
"who are you...burglar," i squeaked, my voice going higher as i held the air freshener in front of me, as if to ward off the burglar.
"burglar?" the voice sounded genuinely confused as i frowned. he must be a burglar, if not what was he doing here? i was so lost in my thoughts that i jumped when the burglar shifted. don't turn around, don't turn around, i begged in my heart.
he still turned around. it's now or never. taking advantage of the moment, i let out a shriek before pouncing onto him and spraying the air freshener in his eyes repeatedly. there you go, you asked for it. i hope it stinks, asshole.
"what the hell?" the familiar voice gasped, crashing onto the floor with me flailing onto him. so much for victory. the burglar was mumbling curses as he tried desperately to wipe his eyes. i could feel my smile slip off my face as the familiar voice registered in my mind.
at the same moment, i grimaced as i looked into his eyes, illuminated by the faint light from the moon. the familiar voice, and those eyes. i was done for.
