The video is a clip from the show the book is based off of, watch it if you want a little knowledge of what's going on.

David's P.O.V.

2nd quarter, 4th down on the Hawks. I'm fighting the urge to run out there and just run that ball, but I know I can't. I'd cost the team a game, and maybe a relationship. Speaking of which, where's my girlfriend? I look over to the cheer squad and I see her huddled under the blanket, watching the game closing. I love how she learned football for me. Sometimes it seems like she knows more than I do.

The whistle blows, and I'm pulled form my thoughts as I start to run out into position, everyone on the bleachers cheering for us. They start cheering "Usian Jr." over and over. It's not my favorite thing to be called, but I take it, knowing that they're all cheering for me. The kicker sends the ball flying over to the 30 yard line, where I'm standing. My team, knowing how well I can catch and run, is already on the offense, giving me an open space to run through.

I'm running through the field as one of the linebackers breaks through, he's huge. I'm surprised that he's even a Linebacker, he's no doubt bigger than the Tacklers. And I'm not the biggest kid, so when he hit me, he hit me hard. I blacked out before even hitting the ground, pain rushing through my body, but then leaving, almost as soon as it came. I can faintly hear voices around me, and I perk up, or at least try to when I hear Liza's soothing voice.

Time Lapse to Hospital

I wake up, and I'm immediately hit by pain, and about ten doctors around me. One of the doctors asks me if I'm okay, and I reply, clearly in pain: "I'm hurting, it hurts."

"Can you feel your legs?" The same doctor asks me, it's now just us in the room.

"Barely." I try to move them, and I look down, realizing that I'm covered in a metal bracket thingy. I start to freak out a bit and the doctor calms me down.

"Do you remember anything Mr. Dobrik?"

"Uh, I remember getting hit, then being loaded into the ambulance. And, Liza! Liza was there! Where is she? I need to see her."

"Sir, please calm down, your family and friends are in the waiting room, we need to run some tests before you can see them. We have made sure that they have been told that your awake." The doctors asks me for my consent on the tests, and I agree, knowing it will allow me to see my family, and Liza.

About ten minutes later, the doctor asks me who I want to see first, and that I can only have four people in at a time. I tell him my family first. I know my parents won't understand what's going on, but I know Slovak and Hungarian, so I can explain a little bit of my situation.

"David?!" My mom yells, running into my room, I can tell how bad my condition is by the look of sympathy everyone keeps giving me. "Jól vagy? Megsérültél?" (Are you ok? Are you hurt?)

"Sértem, az orvosok azt mondták, hogy megbéníthatom." (I'm hurting, the doctors said I could be paralyzed.) I tell my mom in Hungarian, and my dad in Slovak. "Bolí ma, lekári mi povedali, že by som mohol byť ochromený."

"Oh, son. We worried." My dad tells me. I explain more of what the doctors have told me, but it's so hard, seeing my mom sobbing. I feel like this is my fault, my parents hated it when I told them I made the football team. I tried to reassure them by telling them that we have the Concussion Helmets, but they still hated me being on the team. (A/N They hook up to monitor and they can track every team member in case they suffer a concussion.)

"Doc? I'd like to see Liza now, please." I tell the doctor as he walks out with my family. She comes in, still in her cheer outfit. Damn, she's hot.
