Levi's P.O.V.
The game started and our school was winning 4-0
Parker got a touchdown and so did Bradley. Before we knew it, it was halftime. James and I already got snacks and we started eating them. My dad came over to me and asked me "Lee, can you go bring Rhett his water bottle?"
"No. They can't know I'm here." I answered.
"Fine. I'll do it." He replied.
He brought it down to Rhett and came back up. He sat next to Val and James' parents.
"How do they not know you're here?" James asked.
"I told them I'm not going. And there's a lot of people at this game. They wouldn't be looking for me since they know I'm not there." I answered. Halftime ended and the game resumed. Rhett was subbed off and sat down on the bench.
Rhett's P.O.V.
I was subbed off and went over to the bench. I looked up at the stands and saw Lee. I smiled and sat down on the bench. Parker was subbed off too and he said "Rhett, I thought Lee said he wasn't coming. He's in the stands."
"I know. Don't tell him you saw him." I replied.
"Okay." he said.
After the game...
Lee's P.O.V.
The game finished and our school won 44 to 22. All of the fans were obviously happy and ran onto the field. Rhett did really good and Got a few touchdowns. He even got more than Bradley and Parker. James and I walked over to our parents and James left with his parents.
"Ready to go, Lee?" dad asked.
"Hang on. I have to go to the washroom. I'll meet you at the truck." I answered.
"Okay." He replied.
Him and Val walked away and I waited at the top of the bleachers for everybody to clear out. Once they did, I walked to the boys dressing room and waited outside the door. When I walked down the hall, I saw Bradley and Parker walk out of the dressing room and ducked into the washroom so they couldn't see me. They walked past the washroom and once the coast was clear, I walked out of the washroom and waited at the locker room door.A few players came out and I looked down at my phone. Rhett was the last one out and he saw me.
"You came." He said.
"Yeah. You think I would miss something this important?" I replied.
He smiled and hugged me. I hugged him back and he said "I saw you. I thought you would have left as quickly as you could once the game was over." We pulled away and he couldn't stop smiling.
"Not a chance. I knew that you would want to know I was there." I replied.
"And that I wore this." I said unzipping my hoodie to reveal his jersey.
"You wore it!" He smiled.
"Of course." I said.
"You're the best, Lee." He told me.
"Thanks." I replied.
"Did Parker and Bradley see me?" I asked.
"I don't think so. They would've told me." He answered.
"Are you going home with Val and my dad?" I asked him.
"No. I'm riding with Parker and Bradley. We're going to get slushies. Do you want one? I can bring you one back?" He answered.
"Yes please. Blue if you can." I replied.
"Okay. You better go see my mom and Jeff before they come looking for you or before Parker comes looking for me." He told me.
"Okay. Bye. See you at home." I replied and walked out to the parking lot.
I walked to the truck and got in.
We drove home and I went up to my room. I changed into the same Star Wars shirt and pair of jogging pants as before and sat down on my bed.
I turned my TV on and started watching the Winnipeg game. After half an hour, I heard the front door open. They walked up the stairs and Parker looked into my room. I could tell he wanted to say something but he went into his room. Rhett walked into my room and shut the door.
"Here's your slushies." He said putting it on my nightstand.
"Thanks." I replied.
"What game you watching?" He asked.
"Winnipeg against The Dead Wings." I answered.
"Who is winning?" He replied.
"Who do you think?" I laughed.
He laughed and the game cut to a commercial.
"So the coach always gives the game ball to the player he thought played the best. And tonight, he gave it to me." He told me.
"That's awesome! You deserve it. You were on fire tonight." I said.
"Thanks." He laughed.
"Lee, I want you to have it." He told me.
"I appreciate the gesture, but I can't accept it. You earned it. It's an achievement." I said.
"Thank you, but this was your first high school football game and I want you to have it so you can always remember it." He replied handing it to me.
"Thank you, Rhett." I said.
"I know it has dried mud on it, but that's the way you're supposed to keep it. You can wash it off if you want, though. It doesn't matter to me." He told me.
"I think I'll keep it dirty. But can I ask you a stupid question?" I asked.
"Sure." He answered.
"Can you sign it?" I replied.
"That's not a stupid question. Of course I'll sign it." He said.
"Okay. Let me get a Sharpie." I replied getting up and going over to my desk.
I got a black Sharpie and brought it over to him.
He signed it and said "There. Now you're the first person to get my autograph."
I laughed and thanked him again.
"No problem, bud. Where should I put it?" He asked.
"On the top of my collection shelf. I don't want anybody to touch it." I answered.
He nodded and put it on the top shelf.
"Well, I'm going to take a shower because I smell terrible." He said. I laughed and he walked out of my room.
After 5 minutes Rhett walked into my room.
"Can I shower in your bathroom please? Parker and Bradley are using the other bathrooms and my mom is using hers." He asked.
"Sure." I answered.
"Thanks." He replied walking into my bathroom.
After twenty minutes He came out of the bathroom wearing a pair of jogging pants. He was shirtless and had a towel draped around his neck.
"Dang Lee. You keep your bathroom surprisingly clean for a 14 year old." He said.
"Thanks." I replied.
He hung the towel up on the rack and sat next to me on my bed. We watched the hockey game together and he fell asleep. I waited 20 minutes and decided to wake him up.
"Rhett." I said shaking him. He didn't move and I kept shaking him.
"Rhett." I said again.
He rolled over and said "I'm a vampire." And hissed while pulling my blanket over his head.
"Rhett, you're in my room." I told him.
He sighed and got up.
"Goodnight Lee." He said.
"Goodnight Rhett." I replied as he left my room.
I shut my door and went to bed.
