After Lee and Dad leave
Rhett's P.O.V.
Mom decided to drive us up to my dad's family because we haven't seen them in awhile. We spent two days there and now we're going home.
"Everybody packed?" Mom asked getting in the van.
"Yeah." We answered as she started the van.
"Okay." She replied and started driving.
"So boys, I have something important to talk to you about." Mom started.
"Oh God, please don't tell us you're pregnant." Bradley said.
"No, Bradley. I'm not pregnant. I won't be having any more kids." She replied.
"Oh thank God." Bradley said.
"Well, what do you want to tell us?" Parker asked.
"So, when Jeff and I were on our business trip, we started talking about something very serious." Mom said.
"Which is?" Bradley asked.
"Bradley, stop interrupting. Sorry mom, continue." Parker said.
"It's fine. We were talking about adoption. Not another kid, I don't think we could handle five kids. About me adopting Lee. I don't know if it's too soon. Jeff is all for it, but he doesn't know about Lee. I'm not sure what your opinion on it is, so I'm asking you guys." Mom told us.
We all looked at each other and didn't say anything.
"If you guys need time to think about it, I understand." Mom started.
"For sure." Parker said.
"For sure, what?" Mom asked.
"Let's do it. Let's adopt Lee." Parker answered.
"Really?" Mom smiled.
"Yes, really." Parker said.
"What about you boys?" Mom asked us.
"I'm in." I answered.
"Brad?" Mom asked.
"I need time." Brad answered.
"Okay. I understand." Mom said.
"But Mom, you need his biological mother to sign off on the idea." Parker said.
"Actually, she doesn't. If his mom hasn't had any contact with him in over two years, it's Childhood Abandonment. That being said, she loses all rights." Bradley replied.
We all gave him a confused look and he said "What? Don't act like you haven't looked into it." He does have a point. Out of curiosity, I've looked into how the adoption process works.
Two Hours later...
We just got home and unpacked.
"So we have to go get Jeff and Lee from the airport at 8:30. It's 7 o'clock right now so we should get going." Mom told us.
"Okay." We said.
"You boys don't have to come if you don't want to." Mom replied.
"It's fine. We want to go." Parker said.
Mom nodded and we got into the van.
We drove to the airport and parked in the parking garage. We went into the airport and waited at the bottom of the escalator for them. I saw Jeff at the top and then I saw Lee.
Once they got on the ground, Lee gave his dad his suitcase and ran over to me. He hugged me and I hugged him back.
Lee's P.O.V.
I saw everybody waiting on a bench in the lobby at the bottom of the escalator. We got off and I gave my suitcase to my dad. I ran over to Rhett and hugged him. He hugged me back and we pulled away after a few minutes. I hugged Val and saw Parker. I hugged him and he hugged me back. We pulled away and I looked around for Bradley.
"Where's Brad?" I asked him.
"He went to the bathroom." Parker answered.
I nodded and started talking to Parker and Rhett about my trip.
I saw Bradley walking over to us and looking at his phone. I smiled and ran over to him.
"Brad!" I said hugging him.
"Hey kid." He replied hugging me back.
"I missed you so much." I told him.
"I missed you too." He replied.
"Hey Park, I'm in." I heard him tell Parker.
"You're in what?" I asked looking up at him.
"Nothing." He answered.
I shrugged and hugging him harder.
"Really? You're in?" Parker asked excitedly.
"Yeah. For sure." Bradley answered.
"Mom, Brad's in." Parker told him.
Val smiled and looked at Bradley.
"Wait, you're in?" Rhett asked Bradley.
"Yeah." Bradley said.
I pulled away from Bradley and asked him "But actually, what are you in?"
"The kill Lee club." He said putting me in a headlock.
"Stop." I said pushing him away.
He laughed and let me go. Val whispered something to Dad and dad smiled.
He looked at me and I gave him a confused look. He shook his head at me and went back to talking to Val.
I felt somebody pick me up from behind and wrap their arms around me.
"So I take it you missed me?" I laughed.
"Well don't act like you didn't miss us." I heard Parker laugh.
I laughed too and he let me go.
"How about we go home?" Val said.
We nodded and walked out to the van.
When we got home, I unpacked all my stuff and went to bed.
Rhett's P.O.V.
Mom and Jeff called us into the living room to talk to us after Lee went to bed.
"So, I've brought up the idea to Lee, and he says that he would like to be adopted. I asked him in a way that he wouldn't suspect anything. I only asked him what he thought about one day when he's older, if Val adopted him. I asked his biological mother's parents and they said that they have not had contact with her since she lived with them. So she doesn't have any parental rights, or a say in the adoption. Since Lee is fourteen, he has to sign off on the adoption. That means that he has a say in the adoption. This process will take awhile, so I want to make sure everybody is onboard." Jeff told us.
"Well, I'm onboard." Mom and I said.
"Me too." Parker and Brad replied.
"Okay. Let's do it." Jeff said.
"But his last name won't change will it?" Brad asked.
"No. You don't have to change the last name." Jeff answered.
He nodded and we talked about it more.
After looking into it and starting the adoption process, we all went to upstairs to bed be cause it was really late. I was sitting on my bed when Parker and Bradley walked in.
"We had an idea." Brad said.
"When you turn eighteen, we all legally change our last name to Harrison. Since mom changed our last names to her maiden name when 'dad' left, it would be a good idea." Parker told me.
"Sure. But why not do it now?" I asked.
"Because none of us are adults yet. It should be a surprise to both Mom and Jeff. And probably Lee. It's only two years away. And if we did it now, it would take away the significance of Lee's adoption. And mom would have to go down with us, so it wouldn't be a surprise if we did it now." Bradley answered.
I nodded and he said "So we all agree that once you turn eighteen, we change our names to Harrison?"
"Yes." Parker and I said.
We talked about it for a little while longer and then they left my room. I laid down in my bed and fell asleep.
