Levi's P.O.V.It has been a week since I have started ignoring the twins and it has gone pretty well. They've tried to talk to me and unless it is absolutely necessary or Val and my dad are around, I don't answer them. At times, they got frustrated at me but I didn't care.
Since it's Saturday, dad made me go to Parker, Bradley, and Rhett's hockey game. It's not that I don't like hockey, I LOVE hockey. I would rather go to the night games because then I'm fully awake. We went to the game and the boys team lost 21 to 22. Rhett wasn't on the ice then, which was a huge mistake on his coach's part because I knew he would have stopped it.
Right now it's 2 o'clock in the afternoon and I'm outside husking corn for my dad because he's making corn for dinner. While I was husking corn, Parker and Bradley came outside with a few cobs of corn and they started husking them.
"So, Levi. I know you probably won't talk to us, but please hear us out, okay? So don't walk away. We just want to talk to you." Parker told me.
I didn't respond and Bradley said "First off, we want to say we're sorry. I'm sorry for bugging you and hurting you. Especially on your birthday. I'm sorry for taking your book and not telling Parker to quit hurting you. We're not used to having someone smaller and two years younger than us in our house. We usually beat up Rhett who is pretty much the same size as us but he's only a year younger than us and we wrestle with our friends who are either the same size or bigger than us. We're not used to going easy on people.""I can tell you fight like fricken cavemen." I muttered. I heard Parker stifle a laugh and then he went back to looking "tough".
"But do you get where we're coming from? We're not used to having another younger brother. And I know you're not used to having older siblings or any siblings for that matter. We didn't know we were hurting you that bad. We'll try to remember to go easier on you and not hurt you as much. I know you can take a lot because I've seen what Tanner did to you, but I don't want to hurt you that bad, if at all." Bradley told me.
"It's fine. I get it. But I doubt you're going to stop beating me up or pretending to. I don't mean it badly, though. It's what brothers and stepbrothers do. My cousins Beckett and Lennon pick on and fight with their younger brother Anderson all the time." I said."Thank you for understanding. Parker do you have something you want to say to Lee?" Bradley asked.
Parker looked at me and mumbled "Sorry."
"Pardon?" I said.
"Sorry." He said just above a whisper.
"I didn't quite catch that. What did you say?" I smirked.
"You heard me, okay?" He said and put me in a headlock.
"Get off me or I won't forgive you." I threatened. He let me go and Bradley said "So do you forgive us?"
"Not until I hear a proper apology from Parker." I replied.
Bradley looked at Parker and Parker sighed. He came down over to me and got down to my level.
"Lee, I'm sorry for being rude and hurting you." He told me.
"I forgive you." I said.
"Thank you." Bradley replied.
"That's it? I gave you a proper lengthy apology and you forgive Parker and he only said nine words?" Bradley asked me as I finished husking my corn. I put all the husks in the garbage beside me and grabbed all my corn."Bradley, that's the best I'm going to get out of Parker. It's not like he actually cares, anyway." I told him and walked inside with my corn. I put them on the kitchen counter and went to my room. I grabbed my book and went into the game room.
I started reading and after twenty minutes, somebody came into the room and shut the door. They came over and sat beside me.
"I need to talk to you." I heard Parker say. I ignored him and continued reading.
"Don't make me take your book away. I'll do it. And you'll never get it back." He threatened.
I put my book down and he said "Do you really think I don't care?"
