Cold Goodbye

Snow lay over half the ground

The trees, the cars, winter profound

I stand, shivering, cold and numb

Alone and glum, a fading thrum

Gazing up at a full moon in a starry sky

From my frozen lips slip a fogged sigh

The city lights look so far away

A last glance at a lost chance, I wish that I could stay
