Under the darkness of night,
I silently slipped away into the woods
The thorns scratched at my ankles,
The cold wind bit at my skin,
My only comfort, the sensation of the rain

Before even the sun could start to rise again,
The birds began to sing of their loneliness
                              My mask cracked a little,
                              My mask fell to pieces,
A disguise broke, I began to run

You chased after me, you who didn't understand
And pulled me from the edge to embrace me to your chest
I felt it start to sprinkle,
I heard it start to fall,
The water poured, we both sank into the mud

You didn't release me, only tightened your embrace
Everything around us was covered in the rain
                              You pointed to the sky,
Where the sun had started to rise,
Ambivalent, I wiped the rainbows from my eyes
