___________________________________James finished his meal in seconds, it had been ages since he'd last had a decent meal. Alex sat next to him with her elbows on the table, using them to support her head while smiling. Just seeing him chow down on her dish really made Alex's day, she was speechless at how childish James looked, eating like an animal.
"Well? *chuckle* How is it?"
James finished almost everything, leaving some for Alex to eat, not knowing that she had eaten while making the food. When Alex noticed that, she simply signaled him to finish it, and so he did without hesitation.
"I guess that answers that, haha."
"It was really good! Haha, I've been trying to find the time to make it myself. I'm guessing you saw the recipe in my room?"
Alex nodded and smiled,
"I thought you might like it.""I most certainly did."
They were both looking at each other with smiley faces, thinking about they ever got to that point in time. Soon, however, smiles faded, looks intensified and their eyes locked on to each other's. Neither of them knew what to do, their hearts were beating faster and faster. Alex's face was really red while James kept a blank expression. Their heads slowly moved towards each other's, little by little, they got closer, almost as close as when Alex got drunk that first night. And finally, they decided to give it a try, but before their lips could touch, someone knocked on the door.
"Oi, kid! You in there?"
The two of them instantly backed away from each other and looked at the door. Both disappointed, they sighed at the same time.
"Kid! I know you're in there, come over here and open this fuckin' door!"
Alex looked at James,
"Who's that?"
Who then got up and started walking to the door, annoyed at the person.
"My landlord, go put your pants on."
James walked over to the door and opened it while Alex ran to the room to get her pants. All of a sudden she started hearing the man shouting,
"What d'you mean you don't got the money?!"
"I'm sorry Mr. Lanchers, I haven't been able to find another job yet."
"Well, that's not my problem, is it!?!"
Alex stood in the hall listening to what was going on, but her mind was elsewhere. She couldn't believe how close their lips were, their noses nearly touched. It was a magical feeling but it ended all too soon because of that idiot.
"We almost kissed..."
When James came back from talking the landlord down and shattered Alex's daydreaming, she immediately backed away.
"Well... he took the TV haha, not like I really used that thing."
Alex wanted to get back to that moment right before the disturbance but sadly, it was too late for that.
"Listen, I'm gonna go hunt for a job haha. You can stay here if you want to, but there isn't much to do."
She wanted stay so badly but for some reason, she couldn't find the confidence to say it or maybe she was just shy, either way Alex declined.
"Actually... I should get going... It's uhm... It's ladies night tomorrow...And eh... I... I have to get myself ready and... and I need to charge my phone... and..."
She felt her face beginning to go red, but James just stopped her on her tracks and placed his hand gently on her head,
"Hey haha, it's ok. I understand. Here's your credit card, by the way."
After handing the card to her, James kissed Alex on her forehead and then left to go look for a job, leaving her alone in his apartment to as she pleased.
