Alex had been chained to a wall for quite some time now. Apart from when someone entered her cell to give her food, the lights were always off.

She could never properly make out the appearance of the people who walked into her cell; the lamp in there with her was always pointed at her, momentarily blinding her anytime it was switched on.

She could not hear anything that happened on the outside, it was a very good cell she found herself in. For the first three hours or so of her capture, Alex yelled and shouted at whoever was on the other side of her door, threatening to knock teeth in and crack skulls if she weren't released.

After time, however, she only threatened the people who walked into her cell. After some more time, there was nothing to say that could change her situation.

Alex waited without knowing how much time passed or where she was. She knew it was cold and that she was some place high. She knew this because of the change in pressure in her ears. It was a similar experience as that of a plane gaining altitude.

The other thing she knew was that James was coming for her. He might have been mad at her, but he was not the type of person to leave others behind purely because of anger.

The door to her cell opened again. The silhouette of a man stood at the door staring at her like she was some sort of rare animal. His voice was confident and firm in sound; someone in charge maybe?

"Unchain her."

Two other men walked into Alex's cell and did as they were told without hesitation. The woman they were unchaining thought that she was going to walk to wherever it was they planned on taking her. She was mistaken.

Alex felt the prick of a needle on her neck and then she began feeling numb. Her plans of making a run for it were just ruined.

"What did you do to me?"

"Don't worry, the effects are temporary. This is only to move you to the lab, you'll regain control of your body in an hour or so."

Before she knew it, they had reached where they needed to be. In that dimly lit laboratory nothing but the machines met Alex's first glance. There were no movements or odors of any kind. There were lights, but like those of twinkling stars in the night sky, they did little to lift the darkness.

A single light bulb was switched on, sending pain to Alex's eyes as the light splashed over them. Directly under the bulb was a small aluminum table with what appeared to be a glass box on said table with a white rabbit inside.

"Do you know why you are here, Ms. Torres? Are you wondering what it is that's so special about yourself that would have you brought all the way here at gunpoint?"

The voice that came from the dark sounded course, like fragmented rock in a hessian sack, moving and grinding against each other; Alex did not like it. The voice sounded full of experience and knowledge, but cold. She did not answer.

"You are here because many years ago I made a mistake. A tiny, seemingly, insignificant mistake that has caused me more problems than I have time to share with you. Today, Ms. Torres, you are going to help me correct that mistake once and for all!"

A man stepped into the light, making himself visible to Alex. He spoke once more, his voice rasping like that of an old man's.

"Yes, you will help me fix everything."

He wore a white lab coat and tainted spectacles, like a normal evil scientist. Upon further examination, Alex found that this particular evil scientist did, in fact, look rather old. Malnourished, and slightly bald with hair that was in the final stages of greying.
