___________________________________On the next day, the ride to the airport was a long one. Austin, the information broker, was left tied up in the backseat of the car with James as Gabriel drove them to Austin's pilot friend.
"So, why do you need to be in the backseat with me?"
"So that if you try anything like, escaping or causing a crash, I can break your hands."
"Hey, driver, does your friend always have a stick up his ass or is it just when he meets new people?"
Gabriel let out a laugh and told Austin that the Titan was generally always moody.
"You guys have some weird-ass codenames."
"Aren't Canadians supposed to be nice, like, always?"
"Hey, fuck you! (Eyes on the road, I don't want to crash.) Just because I'm Canadian doesn't mean I'm always nice! How'd you know I was Canadian anyway?"
Gabriel let out another laugh but did not answer Austin this time. Some mystery is always fun when you have a person tied up in a car with you. At least, that's how the old saying went for Gabriel.
It was a solid hour of driving from the hospital to the airport, during which time Austin spent asking why they wanted to kill a famous scientist. James did not satisfy Austin's curiosity. When they got to the airport Austin instructed Gabe on where to go and what to do.
Austin was allowed to get out of the car to negotiate with the pilot over how things were going to take place. There was some confusion at first about stops along the way, but the information broker was able to smooth the situation out with his smart words and make it a single flight.
"There! All done! Now, if you gentleman will excuse me, I have a business to run."
Knowing everything that was needed to know, the men released Austin to go back to his cave of information. There was only one last complication that took place before liftoff.
"What do you mean, "I can't take that onboard"?!"
"Sir, only air martials are allowed to carry weapons on a plane."
James gazed at Gabriel menacingly as if to warn him not to waste more time than needed.
"Hehe, listen, ma'am... I need the contents in that bag."
"Sir, I'm sorry, but you can not take weapons onboard!"
Gabriel did not take his weapons on board. As a result, he spent some twenty minutes talking to someone over the phone, presumably to get his things delivered to Russia.
James, as expected, was not very keen on waiting for his friend to finish the call over weapons that he could get anywhere.
"Augustus! What the hell is taking so long!? Get in this damned plane now!"
When James got nervous, he would call people by their last names. He thought it made him sound more intimidating, or something like that, but it did not usually work. Gabriel got on the plane and waited for the pilot to start the it.
"Hopefully we don't crash or anything, though, I don't think you'd have anything to worry about with your healing abilities and all haha!"
"I'm more worried about Nigel. With him around, there's no telling what could happen."
"It's not like he's going to break physics again! God, haha, remember when he did that?"
For the most part, the world was normal. There were, however, some major events here and there that everyone knew about but could not explain. Case and point, the day Nigel broke physics. Nobody, save for a few, knew how or what exactly happened that day, but everything just stopped making sense!
In some places, air became solid, in others, the slightest physical contact could level a skyscraper, a few times if you got out in direct sunlight, you'd freeze! Gravity became a big problem for a lot of people and so on and so forth.
Everyone on the planet knew about that single most weirdest week the planet Earth had ever experienced-- even Alex knew about it! Seeing as how no one could explain the event, it came to be known by most as "the day physics stopped working." To the ones who knew the truth and lent a hand in fixing things, the event was known as "the day Nigel broke physics".
"Yeah, that was a weird time for everyone..."
They were now in the air.
Gabriel continued."And what about the Powerhouse incident? Haha!"
From then on, the two reminisced. Eventually Gabriel fell asleep while James emptied the mini bar in their private plane. The plane took them straight to Moscow. From there, things were never the same again.
