Niall sat alone at his mothers side in the Hospital. He knew she was okay but deep down, he just couldn't help but cry. He never liked to see someone from his family so ill. She layed there, silent as a mouse. When, Harry stepped in, closing the door behind him. Niall had just finished wiping his tears away.

"Ni," Harry began. "You okay?"

"Do I look okay, Styles?"

Harry patted him on the back. He knew he had to do something that would try and make Niall feel better. And he was always good at that stuff. Just not putting it into words. It wasn't his area of expertise. So Harry just sat there next to him, rubbing his back softly and kept talking to the Irish lad.

"You know, Niall. When my step dad told us that he was ill, we all kind of freaked out. It was scary. Especially for my mum. She didn't want to lose him. I pretty much cried all the time just thinking about it. But I never really cried in front of you guys because I was just afraid to. Look, I'm sure she'll be okay, Niall.

"Harry, not trying to be mean but that is not helping. You're talking about greif. And dealing with death. That's not what's going to happen to her. Anyways, it was cancer for him. This is different." Niall said to the Cheshire boy.

Harry sighed, looking at Maura for a moment before turning back to Niall. He wanted to say what he was thinking but he was sure Niall wasn't going to take it. He might have just collapsed on the floor and started balling out. Harry knew this wasn't going to be easy. But maybe if he had help. Harry rose to his feet and told Niall he'd be right back, leaving the room for a minute. He went to go find Louis, who was out in the waiting room, chatting with Denise and the rest of Niall's family.

"Louis, I need you for a minute." Harry spoke.

Louis got up and willingly walked with Harry over to Maura's room. They stood out of the door for a bit so Harry could tell Louis the plan.

"Harold, are you sure about this?" He questioned. Harry nodded and then, left Louis alone to walk in to Niall.

Niall was all upset. His mum was in a coma and was hanging on for dear life and there was nothing he could do to help her. He was terrified for her and for himself. Louis quietly made his way in the door, looking down at the poor Irishman.

"Hey, uh, Ni?" Louis asked. "You doing okay buddy?"

Niall sniffed loudly, wiping more tears away.

"I'm....I'm worried about her. What if she.....?"

"She won't."

"How do you know, Louis?"

"I just.....I....I just know." He said, sighing afterwards. "Look, your mum is one of the most strongest females I've ever known, Niall. She's gonna be just fine."

Niall scoffed at Louis and continued to put down his head on his mums chest. Louis thought real hard but he didn't really know what else to say. "Niall, I've known Maura for a hell of a long time. She's a strong woman. Just like me mum. She fought for her life and she never gave up."

"Yeah and look what happened to her," Niall raised his voice. Louis paused. Did Niall really just say that? Such a strange feeling came out of Niall, that it turned Louis against him completely. Louis faced Niall and just started screaming.

"WELL AT LEAST YOUR MUM IS STILL ALIVE!"

"Louis....just calm down a minute...." Niall tried to gain Louis' attention but Louis fought against it any way he could.

"NO NIALL! NO I WILL NOT CALM DOWN! YOU HAVE YOUR FAMILY, YOU HAVE YOUR MUM, A DAD THAT LOVES YOU SO MUCH. I HAVE NOTHING!"

"No, Louis. You don't have nothing. You have all of us, your sisters, your brother, El and Freddie...."

"YOU JUST DON'T GET IT, DO YOU? NONE OF IT MATTERS IF IT'S MINUS MY MOTHER!"

Louis stormed out of the room, leaving Niall broken-hearted next to his mum. He felt powerless. Almost dead inside. He tried so hard to help Louis and all it did, was make things even worse. Niall just had no clue what else to do at that point. Yes, his mum was in a coma and would most likely be in that state for a while, but he had to do his best to straighten things out with his band mate. He couldn't just walk away from a situation. He knew he had to confront his problems. So that's what he did. He marched right of the room and down the hall.
