Chapter Thirty-Nine

*Sophie's P.O.V*
I got to my house and was so nervous but exited. I hadn't seen my parents and brothers since I'd moved to America. Although I spoke to them nearly every day, it still wasn't the same. I knocked on the door and saw my little brother, who's 6, come and answer the door. I looked at him and smiled. "SOPHIE!" He screamed and hugged my legs. I chuckled picking him up and hugging him back. "Hey joey" I said smiling. He moved away and ran inside so I closed the door and followed behind to the living room where I saw my mum, Dad and older brother, Danny stood looking. "Alright Soph" Danny hugged me and I hugged back smiling. "It's so good to see you kiddo" Dad said kissing my head then standing by Danny. "aww sweetie we've missed you" I hugged mum as she hugged me. "I've missed you all too!"

We all had a quick catch up chat before mum carried on cooking the dinner, Danny went out to work and Dad sat watching the football. I wasn't sure how I was going to tell them all about me and Derek being engaged. I was either gonna tell mum and dad first then wait till Danny got back to tell him, or wait till Danny got back and tell them all together. Whilst mum was cooking and Dad was watching the football I decided to go upstairs and sit in my old room and look through some old memories. I first looked at some photos of us all when me and Danny were kids and some of mum and dads old wedding photos ect. It was nice to be home and just to look back at good old times. Once looking through photos I looked through some old videos and it was just amazing seeing the old memories. I heard Danny walk back in and realised it was time to tell everyone about me and Derek being engaged.

*Derek's P.O.V*
Me and Liv pulled up outside my house and as soon as I looked at the house the nerves kicked in. This is the first time I've been home and seen my parents since I left/got kicked out those years ago. Liv went to get out the taxi and then looked at me. "Derek, are you ok?" I nodded and climbed out following Liv and the taxi man drove off. "It'll be ok" She smiled and nodded walking towards the door and I followed. Still nervous as hell. Liv knocked and I saw mum answer the door. "H-hi mum". I smiled slightly. She looked at me and then Liv for a while before looking back at me. I wasn't sure if she'd be happy to see me or not as she kicked me out, but saying that she and Dad have both tried contacting me recently but I ignore it, I know I shouldn't but I've been too worried and scared and not knowing what to say. "Derek omg" she hugged me straight away. I smiled letting a tear fall and hugged back.

——-2 Hours Later———
Wed been in the house for a couple of hours now and it's gone so well compared to how I thought. We spoke it out like adults and both mum and dad were really happy to see me, and Liv of course. "It's so good to see you both" mum said smiling. "It's good to see you too mum" Liv smiled. We spoke about what we'd all been up too lately having a laugh and a chat before tea was ready. I sat at the table opposite Liv and she gave me the 'tell them you're engaged nod' so I nodded back and prepared.

*Sophie's P.O.V*
I waited until Danny was in the living room. "Guys could you all come in here for a minute please I have something I need to tell you." They all walked in looking confused and sat down. "I have news." Danny raised his eyebrow and mum and Dad just stared at me blankly. "Me and Derek are engaged." As I said that I showed them the ring and my mum teared up. They all congratulated me and said how proud they were of me and it made me so happy that they were happy and proud.

*Derek's P.O.V*
"Mum, Dad?" I gulped nervous holding Liv's hand slightly. I watched as they sat down and looked over. "Yes?" They smiled. "I'm engaged. To Sophie. Obviously." I chuckled a little and then smiled slightly. It was good to finally tell them but I just hope they're happy for me. "OMG! That's amazing!" Mum said running over and hugging me. I let go of Liv's hand, laughed and hugged her back. "Congrats son" Dad said smiling and nodding at me from the other side. I smiled and nodded back. Once I'd hugged them I pulled away and looked at Liv smiling. She smiled back and then looked at her phone. "I'm just gonna go give Mikey a quick ring if that's ok?" She smiled and ran upstairs.

Mum and Dad looked a little confused and looked at me. "Who's Mikey? She's never mentioned a Mikey before?" Mum said. I wasn't sure wether to say as its up to Liv but I didn't want to leave them confused and questioning. "It's Liv's boyfriend. My best mate from America" I nodded and looked back at them. "Ahh right" Dad said nodding and going back to watching the football. Mum came over to me and took my hands. "Please take care of her whilst you can. Ever since her accident I've been scared and worried. But now I know that she has you it makes me feel a whole lot better." She sighed and pulled her in for a hug to assure her that I'd look after Liv and keep her safe as long as I need too.

*Liv's P.O.V*
I ran upstairs to give Mikey a ring. I hadn't told my parents who Mikey was yet but I kinda knew Derek would probably do it for me. I miss him. I've never had a boyfriend like Mikey. Sam was a cheat, cheated throughout the whole relationship and I never saw him so to be with Mikey and Liv basically with him and see him a lot felt good, so leaving him, even if it was only for a week, was hard. I clicked on FaceTime and rang his number. I waited a little while until he picked up and smiled waving.

Liv; Mikeyyy *smiles down FaceTime*
Mikey; hey baby I miss you
Liv; I miss you too. How is everything down in America?
Mikey; Good! Bryce went on a date the other day and Rory and Amelia have been great too. How about you? Derek? Sophie?
Liv; oooh *laughs* and yeah we've been good. Soph and Derek told the families about the engagement and I told my parents about us.

We spoke for a good 20 minutes and it felt nice to just have a quick chat with him. I waved goodbye and cut him off as it was getting towards 6pm and we were going out ice skating together and meeting Sophie and her family there. I ran downstairs and got my coat and shoes on waiting to leave the house. I love ice skating.
