I'd like to say our story started when I was handed the Death Note by the golden, bejeweled Death God, but that's not the true beginning of my story if I'm being honest.
No, my story started years in advance, before this murder book found its way to me. Technically, it started before I was born.
You may be wondering, "how can your story start before you were born, Nietzsche?"
Fate, dear witnesses. Fate.
I could tell you how, but see, I don't want to. So I'll start with the Death God touching me with the notebook so he could come into view, and explained to me how the notebook worked.
I didn't use it right away. I wanted to plan a bit first. I'd always had a plan in my head of how to get revenge on the world, and I was just handed the perfect weapon to execute it.
Armonia was the Death God possessing me and was he a pain in the ass. He liked to comment on how rudely I treated him, and how he deserved more respect, being the right-hand man to the shinigami king, and all.
I can't count how many times I rolled my eyes at him.
Now that I had the Death Note, I figured out that both Kiras that were in Japan at the time had Death Notes of their own. Might as well go join them, right?
So after getting some millionaire to kill himself after leaving all his money, in cash and checks, in a specified location; I went to pick up the money as I watched him walk away to kill himself, I went and put some in my bank account, kept the cash, and bought a one-way ticket to Tokyo.
"Pretty smart, aren't you?" Armonia hummed.
"I like to think I'm clever," I smirked as I got up to pack. "It'd look weird if he transferred all his money into my bank account, the police would pick up on that. It's better to have him write them in checks amounting to a few hundred dollars each and leaving some cash. As time progresses, I'll bank them in little by little with the app on my phone." I smiled.
A day later, I was all packed and moving to Japan. I found an apartment that wasn't too bad, and contacted the landlord, then bought it right then and there. He said to contact him once I was there and he'd give me the keys and see me in.
Three flights and hours later, I was actually in Japan, and both Armonia and I were beat. We met with the landlord and I got two sets of keys, putting one on top of the doorframe for if I ever got locked out.
I had Armonia help me move in, and I ignored all of his complaints as he did so.
"So, Nietzsche, what is your plan?" He asked.
"It's still in the works, technically. I have an outline, though." I said and grabbed a red spiral notebook lying on my newly made bed. "Years of notes and plans are in here. As well as there." I looked to the opposite bookcase. "But everything important is summarized in this."
I soon sat on the bed and grabbed my laptop. "I just need to be caught up a bit... then we can get to work."
"We?" Armonia asked incredulously.
"Yes, we. You will be helping me. As a human, there are some things I can't do." I nodded, typing in my password and looking to news sites.
"And what makes you think I'll help you?" Armonia asked.
"I'll hurt you," I said offhandedly and turned to stare as he scoffed.
"I'd like to see you try. I'm a God, remember?" He chuckled.
"A God who has to stay by my side no matter what. I can't kill you, but I can hurt you." I glared at him with a tiny smile. "I can starve you."
At that, I saw him grow a little nervous, and I looked back at my laptop to study the news a bit.
"Starvation won't kill you, I know, but given your addiction to apples, I imagine it would become very unpleasantly uncomfortable," I said.
"Fine. I'll help you." He said and I smiled at him.
"Good boy." I praised with a nod.
"Evil little thing..." I heard him mutter as he turned away, and I smiled to myself.
Oh, just you wait.
