The next day, I had set up the camera on a chair and my backdrop with my name across it.
I had just begun filming, using my nasal voice to start with.
"Everyone may have noticed that I became inactive for a little while. I'm here to explain, but first, I made a promise to you all." I hummed, then went back to my normal voice.
"I said I don't mask my voice because I'm not a pussy. And I'm not, but some articles and shit pointed out I was still hiding my true face. To that, I said not for long, as order can't be executed anonymously."
To that, I got up and sat in the chair, smiling at the camera, not hiding my face nor my voice. "Hi, I'm Nietzsche. The one and only."
"Now, why was I inactive for like, two days? I thought you said you'd kill people until L revealed himself to you." To that, I slowly grinned. "Well guess what? I have a friend! I have a friend! I have a friend!" I sang and wiggled in my seat.
"We met in a McDonald's like I had said I'd be in, and we had a nice long chat and became best buddies. We're almost inseparable. Almost." I held up my finger, still smiling.
"'But Nietzsche, why show your face now? People will arrest you!'" I gasped, then smiled. "But see, no they can't. I've been granted immunity by the one and only L and the NPA!" I beamed, then looked back at the camera.
"I won't tell you what I had to hold over their heads to get it, but just know that if I am killed or arrested, your whole world goes to shit. I know the identities of everybody working to catch Kira, I know L's identity, and they know full and damn well that if anything happens to me, they die. Everyone dies." I warned seriously.
"Not only will that taskforce die, but I can and will wipe out the NPA as well. It didn't take me long to get L in front of me and a name, how easy do you think it would be for the simpler cops and detectives?" I sat back and chuckled. "I could do it in a heartbeat." I sighed.
"Let this be a warning to you all. My first phase is complete, the second phase is coming. Now that I'm where I need to be for this renaissance, we can get a move on. I know everyone will enjoy it. I know I will." I winked, then stood up and lifted the camera.
"Until then, world." I smiled, then stopped filming.
I quickly uploaded it online, then took the flash drive it was on and took it to Sakura TV.
"Now we wait?" Armonia asked as we got home.
"Now we wait." I sighed as I fell on my bed, lifting my red spiral notebook, looking over what to do next.
After my video had aired, I walked into headquarters the next day, and L did not look happy with me.
"Aw, you look a little upset. Was it something I did?" I teased, and he glared with a curl of his top lip.
"You just had to go and announce..." he started to say, seeming to hold onto the last of his patience.
"Yes. I did, L. Know why?" I said and he blinked. "News isn't news anymore. It's entertainment. You're insane if you think the public isn't drinking this shit up. Sure, people are dying, but they love it. As I said, it's a game." I smiled and he was just fuming.
"Ryuzaki, I hate to say it, but she's right. We're not only her insurance, but we're also her game pieces." Light said.
L walked up to me, looming over where I sat with a heavy glare. "What's your point here? What's the point to this game you're playing?" He asked.
"Well, technically, the game hasn't even started yet. I'm still setting up the board. Why are you upset? It'll be fun." I asked.
"I told you from the start I wanted no part in this! I have enough on my plate with the two Kiras! I don't need you, too!" He angrily said.
"Too bad. You don't have a choice." I shrugged.
L just seemed to grit his teeth and huffed angrily.
"If I need to take you down, too, then so be it." He sat down. Well, crouched.
"I'd like to see you try." I hummed and almost heard him die a little inside.

FanfictionI'd like to say our story started when I was handed the Death Note by the golden, bejeweled Death God, but that's not the true beginning of my story if I'm being honest. No, my story started years in advance, before this murder book found its way to...
