I killed almost every single judge in Japan, just the ones I could find names and faces for online. I had them write my name over their eyes just so everyone knew who was responsible.
"Why the judges?" I asked as I filmed for my website, which now had over six million followers, just waiting to see what I'd do. I didn't need to send my videos in, news stations just took them from my website now.
"I want to give the full reason later, as it would make sense later, but for now, all I can say is..." I closed my eyes and took a breath.
"Our view of justice is skewered. Our view of society is skewered. The judges, their deaths aren't meant to be taken literally, but metaphorically." I then shook my head with a little smile.
"As I said, it'll make more sense later." I sighed and signed off.
I was back at headquarters and L was even more stressed out now.
"Just tell me why." He sighed.
"Hm?" I asked.
"Why the judges?" He looked tired and drained. "What logical reasoning could your mind come up with that would make you kill almost all the judges in Japan?"
"It's more of a metaphor." I sat beside him, setting down my bag.
"What fucking metaphor?" L sighed. I'd never heard him swear before.
"A social metaphor. Their deaths were to symbolize order. That's what a judge is, isn't it? A symbol for order and justice. Take that away, how do you think the public will respond?"
L stared at me like a gaping fish, just blinking with his mouth open.
"You're actually insane, you realize that, right? Yes, you may be right, but you must be insane to think it would ever work." He said, making me smile calmly.
"All you want is anarchy. That's the point to your game, right? That's your goal; complete and utter anarchy. You're just bored, you don't want anything. Hell, you probably know you're going to jail or die after this, but you don't care. You just want to watch the world burn. And for what? To prove a point? A stupid point, at that."
L ranted for a while and I sat there, patiently listening as he talked himself to losing his mind.
At one point, he paused to take a breath, and I put my hand under his jaw, pulled his face to mine, and placed a little kiss on his lips. His soft, smooth lips.
I pulled back and sat back down, giving him my patient smile, and I could see the gears working in his head, behind his eyes, as he stared at me.
"Oh." He breathed, finally understanding, and I nodded. "Oh."
"Mhm." I nodded, and L just sat back and kept staring, his hand soon coming up and touching his bottom lip.
"I understand now." L closed his eyes, nodding. "I'm not saying I agree with the points you're trying to make, but I understand you now."
"You look exhausted. Go to sleep." I said.
"Stay with me." He stood up, and I grabbed my bag and stood with him, both of us walking away together.
"Wait, did she just kiss him?" I heard Matsuda ask behind us.
The two of us soon got to a bedroom, and I kicked off my shoes and slid my bra through my shirt. L lied down, and I made myself comfortable as well.
"I do love naps." I sighed.
"So I've heard." L hummed.
"Oh, you have no idea," Armonia said though L couldn't hear him.
"The Grand Inquisitor, huh? That's your whole point?" L asked.
"Part of my point. There are other factors as well, but the Grand Inquisitors plays a pretty big role. How'd you understand?" I asked.
"With the kiss. The same kiss Jesus Christ gave to the Grand Inquisitor, the same kiss Alyosha gave to Ivan." L said and I smiled.
L soon closed his eyes out of exhaustion. "I know it wasn't a romantic kiss, but you did sort of steal my first kiss." He admitted.
"Aren't you glad it was for an educational purpose that defied your logic?" I smiled and he sighed. "Sorry. Go to sleep, Lawliet."
"Don't call me that."
"Lawliet," I said again, and he opened an eye and peered at me. "Something the matter, Lawliet?"
"I'm too tired to deal with you." He settled back down, hugging the pillow under his head.
"Night, Lawliet." I sighed, closing my own eyes.
"Night, Nietzsche." He breathed.

FanfictionI'd like to say our story started when I was handed the Death Note by the golden, bejeweled Death God, but that's not the true beginning of my story if I'm being honest. No, my story started years in advance, before this murder book found its way to...
